Guide: Revising a Platform and Keeping Your Models

Introduction (you can skip this)

Hey guys, it’s me again. I’ve noticed that there is a problem in the game where if you make a platform, make a model with that platform, then revise the platform, you’ll lose the model to that platform. Let’s face it, sometimes we want to make some edits to the body without drastically affecting your sculpted build. Well, boy do I have some helpful information for you! Automation works similar - in this aspect - to a game I used to play called Rigs of Rods, where you could give your vehicle a UID, or a unique ID for that exact platform. Well, once you revise the platform, your UID will change and you lose the models associated with that UID. Don’t cry though, there is a way to recover your models and it is quite simple.

Note: It may be possible to assign your own UID to your platforms, but I recommend letting Automation do that work for you.

Step 1. Open Notepad (Windows) or another plain text editor of some sort.
Step 2. Select “File”, select “Open”, then change “Text Documents (*.txt)” to “All Files”.

Step 3. Find your platform in C:\Users(your name)\My Documents\Automation\Platforms and open it.

Step 4. Press CTRL+F and type in “UID” and hit enter. Copy the UID WITHOUT the quotation marks.

Step 5. Find your model in C:\Users(your name)\My Documents\Automation\Models and open it.

Step 6. Follow Step 4, then select the UID and paste the UID from your platform.
Step 7. Save and close notepad. If Automation is already running, switch to the Engine Manager and back and your model should now be assigned to your revised platform.

Questions?

I hope this helps you with your platforms! Have a question? Need more details? Feel free to reply to this thread or PM me with your questions.

I loved rigs of rods  thank you! That’s one heck of a trick and time saver.

It was a great game, but multiplayer had a lot of problems and the devs quit trying to fix bugs. I’ve been poking around to see what kind of stuff can be helped, for instance people losing their models. I haven’t found anything else yet.
