Hawker Cars Inc - Featuring a "throwback" the 2000 Typhoon V8 sports car

Today, we take a look back into the year 2000 with The Hawker Typhoon. A brand new model for the year 2000 featuring a revamped V8 engine lineup.

The new series of V8 engines where first equipped into this car. You get 3 engine options with this model, 2 can be had on the GT or GTS trim, while the 3rd and most powerful is only available on the GTS-R trim.

Option One: Sidewinder 5.0L MOHV V8

Unlike our competitors whose bases model gets stuck with a boring V6 with no power, you get a V8 with the Typhoon. How does 300 horsepower sound? How about 328 foot pounds of torque? Thats what you get here, a nice engine with good midrange torque, and a nice horsepower curve, with over 90% of the maximum horsepower available from 5000 rpms all the way to the 6500rpm redline. The engine is also very light, weighing a little over 385 pounds. It also gets great economy too, achieving an average of 23.7 mpg in the GT trim.

Option Two: Sidewinder 6.0L MOHV V8

Want your car to haul more ass? Checkmark the box for this. This engine is a bored and stroked version of the previous 5.0L. You get 100 more horsepower and and 67 more foot pounds of torque without a sacrifice in low end and mid range power.

GTS-R Only Option:

This engine is a rocket. This engine is at the limit of the bore and stroke for our Sidewinder engine block. With 6.6 liters of displacement granting you 525 horsepower and 454 foot pounds of torque, you will laugh like a 3 year old just discovering legos, all the way up to the 7000rpm redline. This engine is designed for racing, but still produces usable power at low rpms. This engine likes to rev high, but also maintains a nice flat torque curve and a nice linear horsepower curve that flattens out right before redline.

With the Typhoon, you get 3 trims:

Trim One: GT
With this trim, you get the Sidewinder 5.0 V8(6.0 is an option), and a 6 speed manual transmission. For tires, you get Ultra performance summer tires, 275mm rear 265mm front. Stopping the car is our performance front and rear vented disc brakes, 3 piston 300mms in the front, 1 piston 230mms in the rear. The car comes with a standard cloth interior and 4 speaker stereo system.

With this in mind, performance is still excellent. With a 0-60 time of 5.2 seconds, you will beat almost anyone that lines up next to you on the street. 1/4 mile time is completed in 13.5 seconds. Stops from 60 are completed in a short 106 feet. Handling is good too, with 1.13gs at 20 meters, and 1.09gs at 250 meters on our test skidpad. Weight is at a light 3143 pounds. This allows this trim to get a 2:19:27 on the automation test track.

Price? How does a starting price of a little over 27000 sound?

Trim Two: GTS
The main features of this trim are the Sidewinder 6.0 V8, wider front and rear tires, up to 305mms in all four corners with the same high performance summer rubber. Brakes are also improved with 4 piston front. You also get a premium leather interior, and a 6 speaker stereo system with navigation. You also get a rear spoiler. The transmission is also changed to a shorter ratio. These options add a bit of weight, with this trim at 3356 pounds.

This improves performance to a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds and a 1/4 mile time of 13.02 seconds. Braking is from 60 is down to 101 feet. On the skidpad this car gets a 1.17gs at 20 meters, and 1.14gs at 250 meters on our skidpad.

This gives this trim an automation track time of 2:14:95.

This great additions to the GT only bring the cost up to a little over 38000 dollars.

Trim Three: GTS-R
This is a track focused car, this car gets barely street legal slicks, 305mms front 315mms rear and the 6.6L V8. You get no stereo system and a light weight sports interior. The body is also changed with larger vents, and a hood vent to keep the more powerful engine cooler. You also now get active sport tuned suspention. These changes have the weight coming in at 3163 pounds.

This rockets the car to 60mph in 4.6 seconds, steam rolling the quarter mile in 12.18 seconds. Stopping the car from 60 takes 96 feet. On the track the car blows by the competition, thanks to the racing suspension, you get 1.22gs at 20 meters, and 1.22gs at 250 meters on the skidpad.

This trim gets a automation track time of 2:09:41.

This car is limited production, so dont be surprised by the price. 65550 dollars.

What car should i do next?

Any car at all…

Straight-up remasters of both Kee-era sports cars aren’t possible right now, but a showcase of your CSR78 entry (which finished third, if I am not mistaken) might be appropriate here.

No necroposting present here, none at all…
