Hey Charger

Hey Guys, Well here is my baby, it a 1973 VJ 770 Charger that i have had for about 5 years, i hope that by the end of this year she makes it into the shop for a full body restoration, to get it back to factory. including all the 1970s vinyl and all new glass & chrome. At the moment i haven’t had it on a Dyno, and i Blew 2nd gear doing burnouts so the transmission needs a look over. It’s a genuine 318 CU IN Block (with matching numbers), the bloke i bought it off said he had it bored and stroked to 340 CU IN, and when it goes into the shop i’ll have it compression tested or the heads removed to see what it actually is. Apart from that its got a 750CFM Holly 4Brl (yes you feel the secondary open as you watch the fuel gauge drop!) Edelbrock high flow intake manifold, running a very heavy cam called a chrysler purple racing cam however i need to crack it open to see which one it has. What i can tell you is that when it idles you cant see out of the mirror because its too busy vibrating away, also the bonnet gets a made shake happening while the engine is thumping away from side to side. It also has pacemaker extractors, Twin 2.5 inch straight pipes with no CAT and straight mufflers, that when at full noise sounds like God and the Devil are having an argument in my exhaust! 3 speed 727 Transmission Factory (only running 2 gears but still drives fine) and an LSD.

It was made into a XL valiant by its previous owner, and i had no idea i was buying a 770 so i got a good score there. its factory color is coral blue, and with its biege interior is only 1 of 4 V8 770s with this colour trim and options ever made. it will be restored to original factory body work and trim, however the engine i hope be as violent as possible for that really old school muscle look and feel.

Enjoy the pics.

Nice! That’s going to look lovely once it’s painted

Are you going try and source some original wheels? I reckon the original optional “Jelly Bean” wheels look cool and they stick to the right era for the car too.
