What do you guys think of this counter-argument?

While it probably is more accurate on the point of history and the fact that it was never a simple dichotomy, the whole discussion would benefit from not having the overlay of Euro versus American bullshit from the commentators themselves, despite the fact the rivalry does exist in real life since we’re talking competing international markets. We’ve got enough hairy chest beating tribalism going on in politics, and I think everybody could do with a break, a chill the fuck out pill, or if that fails, a good slap upside the head.

Volvo. 740 - 940 - 850 - S40. All in one brand.

Wasn’t pedestrian crash safety a contributing factor as well?

If Vox wrote it, then it’s worthless.

Lets be honest, the car design is a fashion, not a statement of “let’s make curvy things cause curves are efficient and for THE FUTURE OF ROBOCOP” or something the article said.

Let us not forget the more sleek designs (at least in US cars) in the late 40s-50s that predated the more boxy ones seen in the 80s and early 90s.
