Hshan's random assortment of cars made on a whim

A YEAR

I haven’t forgotten about the thread though, but for most of that year I was busy, lazy, or both at the same time (would you guess that’s possible?). So anyway, without further ado…

Yes. This is a caricature. I’ve watched that old bit in which the amusing motoring orangutan Jeremy Clarkson complained about malaise cars, especially them being just SQUARE. Well then, since I share this sentiment towards malaise cars, I thought I’d make the squarest and brownest and, in general, malaisiest car of them all.

It’s 5,5 metres long, but miraculously, the overhangs are about a mile and a football field long. Of course it’s fully made of the most ordinary steel available (well except for the engine, that’s make out of the most ordinary iron available). Rather obviously, it’s based on a ladder frame and has a solid axle with leafs in the rear, with all the power going there.

Surprising power, sort of - if you expected this to be a meme “hehe 8 liter modor make 50 hp”, then you’ll be disappointed. I’ve designed this as an actual logical car, just strictly adhering to the exaggerated trends of the time in American car design. So it does have a huge engine - 480 CI of course, which translates to 7.9 litre in the rest of the world units. And of course this engine is choked, pushrod, and carburetted. But it makes 234 hp anyway - well, it’s really big, I guess. And passes WES 6, because that was crucial back then (the highest standard required in the game world at the time - I’m not dealing with actual US norms, they’re far too complicated…). In terms of economy and performance it’s.. not bad I guess? Just over 10 MPG and just under 10 seconds to 100 km/h…

Other than that… well, IDK what to say, I just wanted to revive this thread a little, since I have a few cars I’d like to show here still, and this one seemed like the simplest to present. The others would require developing some background and possibly some other variants - so stay tuned. And best of all - I’m thinking of making at least one of them configurable like the Crusader

Okay, summing up - despite what you may think after all this description, I actually like this car. It’s funny and… nice in Beam. I know I can’t optimise cars for export, so I don’t do it and just use them as they are, and this one is… nice in this case. In a very specific, very boaty way, but nice nonetheless. Just burbling and sailing along the road, roughly. Give it a try, if you wanna relax:

I love this thing so much

Neckbeards with unwashed glasses sitting in mom’s basement taking that meme seriously actually have no idea what they are talking about, so I am glad I didn’t have to see it. Thanks.

I was inspired. Simple changes, but still has an effect I enjoy.
