Engine directory

Guide

There are no official name differences between transverse and longitudinal versions. They are differentiated simply by knowing the car they came with.

Engine naming convention

Family name:
A descriptive word or abbreviation, usually in English or Latin but can be in any language (eg. NSR - New Standard Response, Marculus, Typhoon, AAV - All Aluminum Venture)

Is the original design from another manufacturer?
If yes: add Y
If no: skip to displacement

Displacement:
(liters without the decimal point (decaliters), eg 20, 45, 50)

Intention:
E = Economy
B = Balanced
S = Sport
R = Race/high performance
RR = competition race (not street legal)
M = marine
G = Standalone (like a generator or auxillary motor)
O = other/non-automotive/non-truck
T = Truck/towing (does not automatically include crossovers)

Layout:
1 = inline 3
2 = inline 4
3 = inline 5
4 = inline 6
5 = V6
6 = V8
7 = V10
8 = V12
9 = Flat 4
10 - Flat 6

Revisions/variation:
R(Revision number/variation number)
(This means number of variations done in total for a specific displacement of a specific engine family, and encompasses all purposes like economy, balanced, sport, race, etc…, technical updates, and the inclusion of forced induction)
(eg, R0, R1)

Example name: Typhoon 35B4R0 = Typhoon series 3.5L inline 6, balanced intention, first variation

Even though the page for the Kaizen group is a long way from being finished, I have to applaud you for having the foresight to plan out its development well in advance - and the previews of the cars you have made are simply stunning. Well done!
