… and you will choose one? i mean, why not voting on one or naming one or several tracks beforehand? well, at least a reason for me to figure out how this custom track Thing works…

one question though:
“safety: advanced 10s can use quality sliders (exception)”
what does that exactly mean? am i free to use the quality slider on safety? only upwards?

It may have too much power… but what can be expected from a 7.2 twin turbo v8

denied - it used quality sliders
Lol, looking too hard at the details and missing the major one, full derp, my bad. Back to the drawing board, resubmission will follow

Well, I figured it couldn’t hurt to try to kick some butt with a Rear Engine Challenge car that isn’t a not-Porsche.

Meet the Storm Road Rocket.

With only a 2.8 liter V6 pushing it along, it doesn’t sound all that scary. Until you realize that this evil little monster packs some serious power.

In this version of the car, we’ve stripped the rear bench seat out of it, ripped all the insulation out of the interior, and turbocharged the living crap out of the engine. The result is a demon of a car that will try to kill you at every corner.

With an insane amount of power for a rear engine car, driving this car is almost certain death, but for those few brief moments, you will have fun.

btw it caused me a bit of fps drop
you didn’t have to put that much effort in it. love it

Beautiful Car you made there

Thanks to both of you! I guess I must have had it in mind to capture the insanity of the car in the body styling. Rather boring in the front, exciting and wild in the back, just like the engine.

At first I thought to myself ‘what a pity I can’t use the tech sliders for the most part’. Then I realised that you can actually push quite a bit out of what you have without even touching the tech sliders. The whole more horsepower than kilograms makes total sense now, I suspect that the times for this challenge are going to be abnormally quick.

will see

After some tinkering, it turns out that it’s possible to make some very viable racing rear-engined cars after all.

I originally designated this Hot Rod but felt that it just didn’t have enough zing…

With a widebody kit whacked on to give a bit of a retro jet fighter appearance, and an oversized double whale-tail style spoiler with hydraulic flaps, this is every bit a mad RR racer. I even backed off on the turbo, dropping power from its original >1200hp so that the car was remotely driveable

(Still >1hp:kg though.)

still trying to get a car not to blow up the tires even with measly 525 hp i4!

It takes a bit of experimentation with aero as well. These cars are very vulnerable to high front lift. If not for my car’s active aero it would have lifted off no matter what I did!

love the design!
btw is there a hotkey in the game which blackens out background? If there isn’t, it would be a nice touch.

Well I built a car for this, but was waiting to see if a track name was going to be released so I could attempt to maximize time on it. I just picked a body I liked and went from there. Then strop comes along with a beast that at its height had 400-ish more HP so obviously I must try this…beetle (?) body out. Manage to fit an engine 2x as big as my other one (not always necessarily good) w/ room to fit maximized turbo aaaaannnnddd I blow the tires. I can’t do anything more with the tires so maybe I’ll play with the aero…lol noep game crashes whenever I try to access aero.

It’s a bit finnicky. Also this isn’t the frame which fits the largest engine, I don’t think.

But it does accommodate 315 wide rear wheels, and that’s something I felt was probably necessary. My other test mobile could only manage 225 and with 1300hp it was like… nope. A shame, really, because I wanted to go one time for maximum POWAAAAAAAA but the temptation of better lap times was just too great. Also I totally haven’t optimised it for any particular track, I don’t have time to do that these days, so I just guesstimate and go “oh, that’ll do!”

I think was actually using the slightly smaller one which fits a larger engine, but smaller tires. I got a 5.8L V8 Turbo (others might be able to get bigger) in the smaller body with 305s on the back, but touching the aero still immediately leads to a crash. Everything else is fine though. Switching to the other type, I got the 315s, but only a 4.3L V8. Meanwhile the original car I built has 295s and a 2.7L.

I think I’m just going to either go with the original one or pick or pick a body no-one else is using for variety.

Well, Strop, I look forward to a Duel of the Rockets. I’ll mention that I more likely than not have the lower horsepower here between the two of them, but I think I did good for my first Rear Engine car. As for track optimization, I was more concerned with “Don’t spin out” and “Don’t explode the tires” than “Go fast around a track.”

Still, it’s looking like there’s gonna be some interesting competition.

is that wing a mod? i am wirking on the same Body and couldn’t find such a neat wing…

edit: uhm, 305s on the smaller one…? Need to check that one out once again
