Looking for a cheap early 70s I4

Hello engine builders, the Miller Automobile Co. is looking for a cheap, sporty I4 engine between 1973 and 1975. I’m also looking anywhere between 100-120 HP on regular fuel (unleaded preferred, but will settle with leaded as long as it isn’t premium). Many thanks in advance!

check with Cpufreak, he has those

i have a 1975 turbo I4 i can optimize a bit, or would ya prefer N/A?

N/A please, I’m trying to build something similar to a Porsche 924.

ok then, any request for displacement?

Inline Designs may have something for you!

With catalytic converter or without? Do you have an efficiency requirement?

I was thinking anywhere between 2.0L and 2.4L

No effeciency requirement. As far as catalytic converters go, I might as well say yes since the mid 1970s was when they started becoming required for all cars in the U.S. built at that time.

ok then, i just finished one design, a 2.0L performance motor based off the MKII Communitasia I4, designed in 1974. here are the specs.

the engine could rev up to 6900 RPM with 42 reliability before valve float kills the engine, so i just had the RPM cutoff there as there’s no real purpose to rev higher.
let me know if more power is required, because i can stroke it out if needed

That’s not too bad, definitely worthy for an entry level mid 1970s Miller sports car!

yeah, as i said i can stroke it out to get more power, though i’d have to make one from scratch if i want anything better really, i mean i’m amazed i even got that out of a communitasia motor

No need, the power will be adequate.

ok, i’ll send the files

Okey Dokey! Thanks for the engine!

Inline Designs would like to offer two engines, both based on a 2.0L SOHC-4 family.

The first is DCOE-based and produces 119HP:

The second uses advanced mechanical fuel injection and is more efficient and reliable, but also more expensive:

Alright I’m getting more choices than I thought! lol

Anyways, definitely worthy of trying out. Send it over.

Ill build an engine as well, ill update this post with the file when its finished. 125hp of DOHC goodness, a bit more expensive, but provides a flat torque curve and great throttle response thanks to throttle per cylinder. Prices are alot higher due to being built in current stable build.
