Man With a Van Challenge! (Second Review)
PHEW!!! I was getting worried…

EDIT: I think this is going to be a battle of the not Transits vs the not Opels…
EDIT2: Wonder if I have the least amount of power…probably…
oh not so slow buddy hehehehehehe

mine’s only have a 3.2l NA making only 138hp… even less on wheels.

other were bragging they got the quarter mile below 16 secs. mine got… around 21 sec

Well…I stand corrected! IIRC my 0-60 was roughly 7 seconds (give or take)… But my top speed is really low due to aero issues.

My van has a mighty 150 horsepower, 3 liter (technical 2997cc) V6, coupled to a trusty old 4 speed automatic. She’ll do 106 miles per hour, get 28 MPG (US gallons), and can carry a lot of stuff. Does 0-60 in 10.6 seconds, and will totally rock the quarter mile in a little under 18 seconds.

I got a 206hp 5.3L pushrod V8, good enough for 0-60mph time of under 10 seconds and a quarter mile time of around 17 seconds. It also makes plenty of torque to move lots of stuff around. And thanks to the 6-speed automatic gearbox and AWD, anyone can drive this without problems.

The Lenraj Shippie has a 2.3 Inline 6 turbo with a 144hp and just under 300nm at 2200rpm paired with a 6-speed automatic gerabox and RWD. It does 0-60 in 9.8 and a quarter mile in just over 17 sec.

Ok…so maybe I went overboard with my engine… I will get a photo soon

EDIT: PHOTO!! Decent economy, low emissions, nice flat power peak.

The Elephants 4.9L 3V V8 delivers over 545nm of torque where you need it, and climbs up to 340hp by the redline.

Twin turbo 3.0L V6 putting out 427BHP and 371 ft-lb powers my work horse! 0-60 in 9.1 seconds and a 1/4 mile of 16.4 or so.

While I may not be able to beat Strops 1/4 mile time mine puts down a respective 15.90 and 7.6s-7.7s 0-60 (the game bounces between the two when you just “refresh” the calculations). Not too bad for only 225 HP  Just hope I am not delivering wedding cakes or a full dining set…

EDIT: I forgot one thing, PUSHRODS FTW!!!

Can’t say mine’s that great performance wise, but it shines for its drivability and utility. Without going to check, I believe the 0-100 km/h is in around 11 seconds or so… not bad for a large van with a small V6.

Here’s my engine and what that allows in terms of performance, I didn’t go for MOHV because I’m an idiot and I only used 4 cylinders in an attempt to keep service costs down.

Lordred’s and RoyalStig’s vans are quite a bit more powerful than mine. I think mine has 404Nm @ 2700rpm and a redline limited 250bhp. But it also has AWD and a manual locker because UTILITY! I’m trying to figure out how 427BHP translates to a slower 0-100 and quarter mile time… RWD only? Worse tyres?

Since I said hang the service costs and fuel economy (to a degree, still running 14.5:1 AFR), I actually used 4v SOHC (there was little advantage to the DOHC in the parameters that mattered and it was much more expensive). I was ok with using OHC because heavier is good for utility, and it still returns better torque and power and has more room to tune. My main disadvantage engine wise is that I was only able to make an engine with 75 reliability, good MOHV engines do much better than that.

@RoyalStig: Ok, without revealing too much, let’s say that my van does a Tulsa quarter mile in 15.35s, which, I can guarantee, would beat the pants off my daily drive Civic ;_;
Uh oh, I just saw this, I think I out Stroped Strop.

The Elephant goes naught to 1/4 mile in 15.30 seconds.

okay i was wrong…

my engine is making out 156HP. and 277Nm@1800RPM
although i was using 4V DOHC with DI… so goodbye low service cost… bad dicision… real bad
wrong body too… this one has a HERRENDOUS aero efficiency

im ready to lose now…

BUT, At least!!

#LOOKATDATPOWERBAND

anybody wants a boost of hope my van i hoveled together in 5 minutes and didn’t fiddle with it too much, it is what you’d expect to find in last place, only reason i even made it was just to see if skyline tailights looked good on a van, so you should be able to beat me no problem

:astonished:

How could you!? This is a travesty!

That said, just look at your engine specs, I think that out-Strops me by a big margin… I’m kinda surprised my van is only 0.05s slower on a quarter mile.

The whole idea was, that I wanted a wide, and high use-able torque curve for towing / hauling. I actually did NOT spend time checking to see what resulted in the best utility score, I just went with my gut. We’ll see if it pays off or not. But with the power, and gearing I used, I would be advertising the Van as a 1-Ton van.

Also, remember, 14.7:1 AFR

I had to go back and check and it looks like I’m putting down a 13.6 Quarter Mile at Tulsa with a 0-60 of 5.3 sec. I’m not sure how I managed that one; I really ignored my sportiness (it’s 1.9). I have a big motor that makes a good deal of torque and AWD to put it down, but I wasn’t expecting to be on the quick side of the competition when I made my van as large as possible.

The 2015 Rennen Spatium. A tried and tested method, using the same tactics that’s classically Rennen.

Under the hood is a 3.5L V6 producing 266 HP and 240 lb-ft, and, as such with a classic Rennen engine, revs very high for the class at 7000 RPM.

im still baffled at how can you have 0.3l more capacity, 2 more cylinders. but have lower torque than mine does…
although, it has 100 hp more than mine…
