2006 Kamishura Gemini GSL 2.7SC

‘Unparalleled Engineering’

Only a few decades ago, Japanese cars were mocked and hated for numerous reasons, varying in understandability, a few decades on from those times, Japan leads the world in car engineering, with Kamishura being a key figure in this.

The Gemini was Kamishura’s brief attempt to make a luxury-sports wagon, with a supercharged 2.7 V6, it certainly packs a punch, reaching 0-60 in 5.8s, although slightly heavy, weighing 1.6 tons, it still remains a very capable car on the corners, aswell as the straights.

Unfortunately, the Gemini came at the worst possible time, with the financial crisis hitting shortly after production began, as a result, it sold poorly and was discontinued in July 2009, though remains a cult favourite.

Have you ever wanted a Machine that’s meant to be driven, a Machine that’s built like a tank? The Soldat S248 Allrad offers a ride like no other. It’s been perfectly engineered to handle every curve while going at 250Kmh on the Autobahn. It’s been equipped with a smooth 2.9L sequentially turbocharged flat 6 engine making 425HP and all-wheel drive. We have tested it on the Nürburgring to ensure superior handling. This is the Machine you need.

2006 Dyamo Caleo

Most wagons are boring, usually they pack a small fuel efficient low powered inline 4 that simply bores you to death. The Caleo is not boring, with our inspiration for this idea coming from the Italians and the British, we’ve decided to replace the standard fuel efficient inline 4, with our own take on the flat plane crank v8, we’ve developed our own 2.4L FPCV8 with 2 turbos and the best fuel efficiency technology we could find. As a result of our efforts we’ve managed to produce 304hp and 288ft-lbs of torque, 29.1MPG and an engine efficiency rating of 36.6%. Though the Caleo is rather heavy at 4091lbs so the 0-60mph is just shy of 7 seconds.

Binned Car(s)

First and foremost, thank you to all who have decided to participate in the MCM06. We 15 entries, of whom 1 binned car, the Dyamo Caleo by @TheAfterMarket, for being too pricey ($12200 above budget). This alien blob of a car would’ve perfomred average to below average in most categories, but outshining all entries in the Practicality stat, given its 8 seat lay-out. Visually the cars proportions feel off, with high sitting rear lights and a micrometer thick front splitter (bound to cut off some legs). I do want to thank TheAfterMarket for submitting his car and I would love to see him in another challenge.

P14 - @Laci

P14 goes to Laci with his Soldat S248 Allrad with a total of 33.14 points. The Soldat performed pretty much average on all aspects but lost out big points in reliability. The car also is a clash of design styles. The styling would suggest a front mounted engine but its boxer 6 sits in the rear. Overall the car is below average in this challenge.

P13 - @ThatEpicBob

The Kuruma Glissando 3.0 GT-L Wagon scores 34.08 points, resulting in a P13 finish. Whilst the design is really solid (some might say it’s pretty basic but simple often is good in my opinion). However the statistics of the car leave to be desired, being horrible driveability, comfort and sportiness. Therefore ThatEpicBob takes P13.

P12 - @David_Herrera

With 34.14 points, NSA Faztwagen is 12th. It scored around average in the important stats and only excelled a bit in some areas. The design is very Mk3 Golf inspired but it is still pretty inconsistent (front vs rear).

P11 - @l0jli

L0lji finishes 11th with a score of 36.26. Whilst being the cheapest to buy, produce and engineer, it did take a toll on the rest of the car, being the worst in safety and scoring below average in the other categories. The design has personality but leans closer to 2010’s than 2000’s. Overal nice car to look at.
