MEYER LZ R76 COUPE
Brainchild of a student program for junior motorsport engineers, the R76 program took a donor LZ600 convertible, fitting a custom hardtop roof and widebody in order to accomodate the ludicrously wide semi-slick tyres. The 7.6L V12 was also fitted a bespoke twin turbo setup.The true power figures were never properly disclosed, as a max boost test on a private test track ended up in a crash after the car suffered catastrophic transmission failure, with power being theorized to exceed far over a thousand horsepower in this specific configuration.
This has shades of the Maybach Exelero (in terms of powertrain) and TVR Speed 12 (in terms of overall philosophy), with a bit of AMG Hammer thrown in for good measure, and is among the craziest uses of the '90 Kompetitor body sets I’ve known.
