Now that I have a job, it is time to go on the track and work on my passion for cars. I recently graduated with Masters in Automotive Engineering from Clemson (Go Tigers!) and currently working at Michelin Research Center.
It is a 1995 MX5 M edition Merlot Mica and I am absolutely in love with it. I just added it to my inventory (2001 VW Jetta) and very excited about it.
It has the following
ABS
5 speed
Torsen LSD
factory BBS 15x7" wheels
I plan to start autocrossing running it stock for a while and get maximum seat time, eventually moving towards Solo I. Many of you guys I see here, have a lot more experience and I appreciate any kind of advice.
I have a 97 M edition and live right up the road from you near Charlotte. If you want to get into AutoX, there’s actually one at a GREAT site coming up in a few weeks at zMax Dragway on February 18th. Might be time to get started, eh?! ccrscca.proboards.com/index.cgi? … hread=5034 There are quite a few down closer to you too at the “Black Lake” Michelin Proving grounds in Laurens, the BMW plant in Greenville, and even on the West Course at CMP.
If you want to try your hand at Solo 1 eventually, the one thing you will need for sure is a big enough roll bar. You have Carolina Motorsports Park and Road Atlanta nearby, and Virginia International and Roebling Road are only a few more hours away. Join the SCCA, come out and work Flagging & Communications at a few races with us, and make some contacts. There are a LOT of knowledgeable Miata guys around, first and foremost being Steve Bertok at Panic Motorsports in Columbia.
I look forward to seeing you around sometime! Crazy to meet someone else local like this
