Microwave's FH3 Adventures

So, first real PC Forza game huh?
After a 50GB download on a 16Mb/s connection and a 2 hour day at College, I came home to finally play it.
For those that do not know, the cars that you can choose from at the very beginning are the BMW M4 Coupe, Nissan Silvia S15 (complete with a bodykit!), a Shelby GT350R and a good ol’ HSV Maloo.
I decided to go down the Ute path, and I did not stop (in the middle of my burnouts and doriftos) to question my decision once.
A little later on, you get a choice between 4 SUVs. These 4 SUVs are: Some BMW Xsomething (can’t remember), a Grand Cherokee SRT8, a Lamborghini Urus (this was a surprise) and a Range Rover. Naturally, I chose the Lamborghini, expecting it to be the fastest of them all.
I was wrong.
The Urus is a piece of shite when stock, the only two things it has going for it are its lightning quick shifts and its amazing exhaust note. Other than that, would not recommend.
Here is the one photo I have of the Urus:

A short while later, I was presented with LOTS of new “loyalty” cars, due to the fact that I’ve owned every Forza since 3. One of these cars was a Ferrari 458, which I absolutely loved in the previous Forzas due to the sound, the way it drives, the looks, just everything really. I took a couple screenshots with it, and they REALLY highlight the game’s amazing graphics.
This first one was RIGHT as I got the car:

This second one was on a road trip, I got a little bit sidetracked.

After I finished that roadtrip, I ended up at “Surfer’s Paradise”, a neon wilderness full of skyscrapers and high speed roads.
I wanted to take a break from racing and doing other such campaign stuff, and decided to go exploring. However, I didn’t feel like using the 458 because it performs poorly on dirt roads (so does my next car, but it’s not quite as bad :stuck_out_tongue: )
I headed to the autoshow and bought a 1990 Jaguar XJS-12. Beyond the looks, I don’t really like these cars IRL because, in honesty, they’re total shitbuckets, but in a game where reliability and engine space doesn’t matter, I love this thing. 50 thousand credits worth of modifications later, this is the car… going 180 MPH!

I honestly love this thing. It looks great thanks to the classic British Racing Green colour and the contrasting aftermarket wheels (which you don’t really get to see because of my shutter speed settings), it performs amazingly thanks to that great big NA British V12 and, above all, it’s awfully tame! It goes wherever you point it with amazing responsiveness, it’s got more than enough power to properly get itself moving, it doesn’t drift every single corner… the list goes on.
I went around and discovered most of the top half of the map in this thing, and I took a couple more pictures along the way.

So yeah, that concludes this post. The photos seem to get compressed a bit when they get uploaded to forzamotorsport.net unfortunately, so they don’t look as good as they did when I was taking them. Also, sorry if all the photos eat up your data allowance if you’re on mobile .

I’d just like to say that if you’re worried about performance issues, don’t be. Because there are virtually none. I run at 60FPS @ 1080p on ultra settings most of the time, the lowest I’ve seen was 40 in Surfer’s Paradise, and even then it’s 100% playable. My only complaint would be the car customisation menus, they are super sluggish and freeze momentarily every time you try to select something. I’m not sure if the same problem exists on the Xbox version, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it does because the previous 2 or 3 Forzas had the same issue, they just didn’t have it as bad.
Can’t think of anything else to say so uh… let me hear your FH3 stories!

My gamertag is UncleBradreh.

You put the Hundae plates on everything, good man. I doubt they will allow my usual very innocent 1981 UK style plate of BOL 10X sadly.

I’ve got an XJS on Forza 6, I agree that it’s a pretty sweet car. Too bad in real life that was one of the least reliable things to come out of England.

Of course I also went for the UTE, why don’t we have these in England? The I also went for the Urus because it was interesting, found it to be alright actually

First car I decided to get was the free Audi LeMans car and have a bit of a rag around the outback in it, I then bought an Isetta because why not, and I now have 45 cars (half of which are special body kit cars)

@adamd You put the Hundae plates on everything, good man.

You can only have 1 plate at a time so all cars have the same plate, I didn’t take the time to put the plate on everything haha

@bobloblaw Too bad in real life that was one of the least reliable things to come out of England.

Yep, shitty steel, 0 engine bay space, stupidly overcomplicated, horrifyingly bad electrics and so on. Feelsbadman

@CadillacDave of course I also went for the UTE, why don’t we have these in England?

15.1L/100km
6.2L Supercharged V8
I wonder why we don’t have these :stuck_out_tongue:
(Seriously though, if a 2 litre turbodiesel or something was sold here, I’m sure it’d sell pretty well)

Reasons why I don’t have FH3:\

  • Broke
  • Linux
  • Brother is an ass and won’t let me put windows on my gaming computer
  • Other computer is crap

agree with reason 1 and 4, i got windows on my gaming PC, but it is far from min specs

My computer is more than eleven minutes old so it’s an obsolete POS that won’t play it for certain. So my likely avenue will be for X-Box. Though not right away. It’s not a matter of affording it as being willing to spend the money for it.

This may be completely the wrong question to ask but… how realistic are the physics?

Well… if you play the track Forza games then it’s really easy to tell the difference. The cars generally oversteer much more than in the track games and they’re rather floaty, but, for example, in the case of the XJS, they can also be very tame, stiff and easy to control. I’ve only ever tried briefly but I would not recommend using a wheel on this game due to the floatiness.
But yeah, in short the physics are well balanced between arcade and realism. They’re not too different to the previous two Forza Horizons.

But can’t you set the physics to simulation? Usually I found that makes it more wheel friendly

ok, so probably not for me then, since I’m a sim nut and my minimum standard for playing regularly is AC

Unless CadillacDave’s question illuminates something. But I’ve always had a bit of issue with the Forza controls. It may be something to do with the fact I suck at controllers, though.

The simulation steering is designed for wheels but the main difference is that your inputs are less “muffled” by the game. The steering input in game is a lot closer to your actual steering input on the wheel whereas with normal steering the steering is slower and slightly “muffled” so that flicking the stick still allows for smooth cornering.

There’s still a whole host of settings for controlling cars, all the deadzones and whatnot. I really do suggest you give it a try. It’s not AC level of realism of course but it’s super good fun.

The only time these words have ever and will ever be used to describe an XJS V12.

Also, is there a demo out yet? I want to know if it’ll run alright before I buy it, which I really shouldn’t anyway.

I don’t think so. You have to buy the official version through Windows Store, and that’s 60 fine British quid/european credits

Which is much #bollocks as it’s only 39.99 on Xbone.
