About a year later I decided to pick up another project car…was able to buy back the car that was totaled so I had a nice parts car…but a rough shell that had some front unibody damage and was missing most of the firewall
Work done:
95 KA24DE
Chromolly Flywheel/Upgraded clutch
Ported/Polished Intake/Head
Equal length header - Magnaflow Race series Exhuast
Lightened chassis, all unnecessary insulation, hangers bracketry, emissions equpiment ect removed. Car weighs in at 2400lb with low fuel and driver.
All new suspension arms (OEM) and bushings
Stance GR+ Coilovers
XXR 962 wheels currently with Nitto Invo tires, waiting on Federal 595 RS-R to come in stock to replace.
Home Done paint job (firemist red) done in my driveway
I use the car primarily for SCCA Autocross in the STX class. That’s right…a 240 person that doesn’t drift! It’s fairly competitive but overall very outclassed, it should be an STC car but due to lack of entries in STC I bump myself up to STX.
I also currently have a 95 S14 240sx…bought as a shell, it’s been a total disaster of a build. Just trying to make a nice daily driver, but its fought me every step of the way
Man, shame about the old one. I love that new 240 in red! Wonder how it sounds with those headers and exhaust? Truth be told, I’ve never seen one of these in person.
Wow, that sounds amazing! I’m pushing my father to let me get a video of our 69 running, but that’s obviously completely different, what with it being a small block 427 stroker and all. Any ideas other than the tires to make it more competitive in the class? It seems like the chassis is down pat, other than perhaps brakes, so now for more power? I’m guessing you already have it reflashed . Has it already been dyno tuned?
It’s somewhat of a limited modification class, but there are some things left undone such as aftermarket adjustable arms to help bring the camber and caster back into range. Car isn’t slammed by any means but it is over 2 inches lower than stock, so a lot of the geometries are out, including over 3 degrees of camber in the back. ECU changes are sadly not allowed, it could desperately use it!
My eventual goals with the care are to take it up to Street Modified class however, which means I can change things like that…but primarily to run either a supercharged or small turbocharged setup. It’s a much more competitive car in SM than STX, but the budget isn’t there for it currently. But its still tons of fun and very rewarding. Basically every car that runs in my class is 20 years newer and 30k$ more, so beating up on those guys with my little budget build is always good fun!
Around 300$ in materials, another 100 in equipment. Could be done cheaper and better, but for a first timer I was pleased with the results. Should have prepped better got some lifting/chipping in the body lines now 2-3 years later.
It’s not a show car by any means but it’s not bad…it was worth trying once not sure if I’d do it again though
So to update, I ended up not keeping the S14. It just wasn’t a fun or interesting car to me, since my S13 is basically all i’d ever want in a 240. So I ended up picking up this lil’ guy
(disregard the mean mugging )
It’s a nice all original 86 Aw11 Mr2. This is my 2nd MR2 I had a 92 SW21 N/A previously. 186k miles but runs and drives like a champ, has the typical AW11 rust but is overall still a really nice looking car, perfect daily driver.
