Just bedding engine in atm, so slow and steady, front suspension feels much better already though, lot of refinements and setup left yet though, will probably be the second race before it’s running close to how it actually should be.
Did well at the dyno…
Just renewed all the suspension bearings today, some repair work on an upright, and fitted the new front springs too.
Are you really getting 700hp and 650ft/lbs tq out of that motor? That is insane, and impressive. I love it
Nah, just a wind-up
Actual hub-figure is the yellow line, 240bhp at the hubs, 168lbft there too.
Still really impressive. And awesome.
More to come yet, there’s another 20bhp and 20lbft in it yet, especially down low, some new bits to finish making yet then bolt 'em on and back for a tweak on the dyno next month.
Was running 7th overall today (which was a lot better than it sounds as a lot of big hitters had come along from another championship, against last years guys we were 4th), but had one of the VW parts on the front suspension fail and lost a wheel, had to limp 3 miles to the finish so dropped back to 11th.
sigh The photographer needs to learn panning…
But on a serious note: that looks awesome!
And that photo REALLY makes me want your buggy…
And here’s our amazing new colour-changing paint:
Got some pictures from the end of last year from Minehead and Kirton too
wow. that looks like a heck of a lot of fun. I love some of those flying buggy shots. Also does the magical color changing paint act as a barometer of how much fun you’re having
Hey, the old shock oil doesn’t look too bad for 2 years of abuse, sure, it’s a little dark, but it’s clear, not cloudy and no real debris in there either, gotta be good, right?
I mean, even the seals and shims look spotless, next to no wear on them at all
And the new oil is just the same colo…oh, wait, maybe the old oil was a little tired then…
Well, the site was better suited to swimming today - pressing the throttle pedal down in any gear at all just meant the mud flew higher - the car didn’t go any faster
Unfortunately, we had trouble with the alternator on the second run, which lost us 10 minutes whilst we bodged it back together with side cutters and tie-wraps.
However, the next few laps we barely made it around - literally creeping along sideways on full lock at 1mph through a few sections they were so slippery, and then just to top it off, on the very last lap, either the gearbox or the clutch plate let go with a bang whilst launching off the start line
Bah!
