So i did a search and couldn’t find anything on this topic.
Is it because the game is not optimized that my card ( XFX 6770 ) runs hotter then i have seen it on any other game? I have hit 75c when playing but have never been above 60c in any other much more intensive ( graphically intensive ) games.
Actually my 5870 all of a sudden started to run hot as well. It hits 72 deg. C after a while in Engine Editor which makes the driver go boom and the game stops working (I’ve never had such problems until today, neither with Automation nor any other title). That’s mighty hot for a watercooled, OCed card, I can recall it used to reach 62 deg. max. I’ll make some test with higher fan speeds, I wonder if it would help. Or maybe the radiator simply got packed with dust.
Automation just seems to be one of those demanding games that make things particularly hot, at least in my experience. Oddly enough the closest i can find to this on my 6870 is the 2nd lego harry potter game, which for whatever reason makes my temps shoot up in the same way automation does. Everything else, from Civ 3 through F1 2013 it sits at roughly 60 degrees with lowish fan speeds, but in automation it shoots up to just under 70 which with my fan profile means just under 100%.
I don’t even want to know what temps my laptop hits.
