well, it doubt it would have been competitive anyway. quite low on power for a Sprint cup car
Using a what? Carb only
NASCAR hasnāt been carb for a few years AFAIK
It is true we could wait for brctool (which, once again, would be perfect) to go public but that could mean years (if it hopefully reaches that point). So in a mean time something more basic NASCARish could still be fun
Who said anything about that?
Stop winking and start talking
@AirJordan I may know someā¦ stuffā¦ about a thing thatās kind of what you suggested.
However thereās another thing that has a good deal of stuff going on with it right now. That thing needs to be handled before this other thing that I know about.
I canāt say much more about that thing yet, because that thing will lead to questions about stuff that hasnāt happened just yet, but may be happening soon. At least soon after that other thing gets taken care of.
In other words:
Before any wrong rumors are started: No Iām not going to release the simulation.
I did not mean to infer that in any manner, although I can see how that could have been interpreted.
So with that being stated, yāall will still have to be patient about the other stuff.
Sorry didnāt mean to make up any stories.
well , now thats done with then, we can talk regs some more.
iām thinking we need a budget limit to really stretch our tuning legs, what say you guys?
2012 was the first year for fuel injection. Before then it was carbs only.
thought so
this could be done like the survival of the fittest. Start way back in time work your way up to the present. That way we get to play with pretty much everything in the game.
So I will be holding a one race event i the near future based on Diablo race way with two classes NASCAR classic (pre EFI era) and NASCAR of the future (turbocharged 3L only) I am hoping to do something like the AWMEC But it will only be a one race event to gauge the number of people interested
before anyone fires a ton of questions, i assume you will be making a seperate threat with all the information?
not at this stage I still want input on here as to what people do and do not want
Iām all for the NASCAR pre efi eras, but I would rather hold off on a āNASCAR of the Futureā until the big engine revamp comes.
OK so I have a few thing I want to run by everybody and get your opinions.
1: First and foremost are we all happy with only allowing one body with no morphing and a set amount of cooling and down-force front and rear i.e between 50kgās -150kgās front 300-400kgās rear or something like that?
2: Would people rather a classic NASCAR of the 60ās-70ās with a much more open engine design phase or would we all rather the choice of a set off spec engineās that everybody has to use but can tune however they wish (ie a ford engine a chev and a dodge I would do this by using different bore stroke ratioās however the engines would all be MOHV)?
3: I would like the chassis to all be the same between competitors with the same suspension used what do you guys want?
4: I was thinking that there would be a power cap but not torque.
5: A total cost or total combined production unit level which is not huge?
6: standardized tyre sizes and quality with the option of semi-slicks +8 (which would wear out faster) or semi-slicks +4
7:It will be an 6hr event and pitstops will be important and will take fuel/tyres/damage into account
8: Drafting will be a set figure and will depend on whether you have a car in front of you or behind
9: There will be a weight limit of no lighter than 1497Kgās and no heavier than 1550kgās
10: the race will be held here at Diablo raceway using the flying lap times not at a real world oval this is not for discussion

11: There would be a spec fuel cell for each vehicle say 55L
OK discuss note i have not built any cars yet I am just mixing real world rules with Automation rules to find the right balance
1: Partial Yes. One body with no morphing, but require that the cooling must be more than the engine needs. As for downforce, let us play fast and loose, weāll all end up somewhere close together.
2: Would much prefer an open design phase on engines, honestly. Nothing against pushrods, personally, but I think for the first one, we restrict the fueling system type, but allow basically everything.
3: Spaceframe AHS, Double Wishbone front/rear, and either corrosion-resistant steel or aluminum panels.
4: Thatās fair in my opinion.
5: Iām more for max cost, personally, but fine with production units.
6: Standardized tire sizes and quality set at +6 semi slicks. As far as I remember, everyone ran the same tires with the same compound and it was setups that changed tire wear.
7: I like this. Fuel and tires are the big ones for changing lap times, and damage is a good penalty against building a car with poor drivability.
8: Nice! Drafting is essential to the races, and if itās shaving a small amount of time off of your lap, then itās working.
9: I agree on a weight limit, but Iāve not actually built a test car, so I canāt confirm the numbers.
10: Iāve got no problems with that.
11: Thatās good. A standardized fuel tank means everyoneās on a level playing field initially, and thereby itās up to us, as builders, to keep them competitive.
