Well, it seems that we have a new carmanufacturer in the Netherlands.
The name: Carice
The company will focus on superlightweight electical cars. At first, they will build 10 cars which will sell from € 26.620,-
Sales will start from 21st of June 2014. If they sell, they will produce more. Customers can choose which accupack they want in their car and can even get a range extender installed, a 1 cylinder petrol engine. They are also considering a junior-version, for people aged 16 or older.
The Carice MK1’s design might make you think of a Porsche 356 Speedster. The car itself will weight only approx. 350 kilograms, including batteries! This way they say it will be a sporty experience driving this car.
Awesome idea, but the weight of 350kg would scare me out of buying the car. A car that weighs about half as much as an Ariel Atom with highly flammable batteries inside is a scary prospect.
Looks great fun, the instant power of the motor should be a good combination with the light weight. The only thing I would be worried about is it doesn’t look like it would be particularly substantial in an accident. Still, can’t be any worse than some older small cars.
No it doesnt. As your car ingame was probably made of steel, and this car probably has some fancy new tech material that is really tough. Any car here has to pass certain safety rules, so I think it will be safe for modern day traffic.
Plastic, entirely out of plastic, the most fancy, high-tech, and new material known to man . But if it can pass safety tests, it is probably safe enough.
I don’t think a car that small and that light needs to pass normal car safety tests, it probably is in the quadricycle category. So, if I was driving it, I wouldn’t go past 50 kph.
Unless I see any proof that it does in fact pass safety tests, I will assume it’s a quadricycle. Which, as Euro NCAP have just proved, are not a place you want to be in an accident. And 20 hp is easily enough to get to 50 km/h
Also I bet it’s made out of glass fiber or plastic, it certainly doesn’t look high tech when you look at the doors shut line.
Actually, I dont think it is ugly. Its different, but that doesnt make it ugly. If you could base your opinion a bit then we would actually know why you think so?
