After seeing the douche meter post I think its a good idea to talk about undouche rides. Im not talking about plain or simple putt putts. For example a 55-57 Chevy because its a car alot of enthusiasts want and people from all walks of life own. A Honda civic on the other hand doesn’t because its basic transportation to most except those with a soft spot for Civics. So a car with great appeal and most could afford, but not just because of basic transport. Same as the douche post a scale of 0-10. 0 being possible douche and 10 being no way a douche ride.
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2dr hardtop. 9.5 out of 10 because its a car people aspire to own, easy to modify and rebuild, and relatively affordable. Many times owners know enough to talk ‘car talk’ with you as well and have interests in other makes, years, and models as well.
We need a new rule regarding cars that they must always be judged in the context of their time as well, because otherwise there is no way that classic cars can be considered douche from a modern perspective (unless they are heavily appreciating in value). Back in the day, Bel Airs were one of the cheapest ways to get V8 power. As such they were likely to be popular with younger folks including those that drove like complete asses and did questionable (for the 1950s) modifications. That way we might get a more accurate non-douche value. I would personally value the Bel Air at 6/10.
Sorry, but do we really need this thread? Isn’t the Douche thread already bad enough? Doesn’t a low rating automatically mean that your car isn’t douchey? Maybe you’re taking this just a little too seriously?
Not really, its all in good fun, people are posting their own cars, dogging on themselves, etc. I dont see a problem with it. For an off topic section, its pretty much nothing compared to what you normally see.
In a sense the real assessment is how serious one gets about how douche something is. Then we know whether the item is contentious, but also about the people contending the rating
But in all seriousness, the original rating was also supposed to cover non douche cars (a 0 rating), of which there are quite a few. I’d say this thread is therefore an inverse duplicate and will confuse discussion.
You’re better off trying to shift the balance in the other thread by inviting on what you think is un douchey there.
