That would have been the next evolution of the AMX as it was meant to compete directly with the DeTomaso Pantera and Lamborghini Miura, just like the now-current mid-engine Corvette is doing against them Ferraris and Lambos. A wasted oporunity.

That car was probably the nail in the coffin for the 442 nameplate. The crazy part is that it was at the San Diego Auto Show where I seen the one with the tri-circle rims. First and only time I’ve seen THAT one in person.
