When I increase the cam profile the octane value increases too.
It’s always been the opposite…cam up, octane level goes down.

Perhaps you have been using VVL?
Nope. Single cam profile, currently at 31.
I don’t use VVL on anything other than performance cars.
Can’t confirm that, it works as intended, octane goes down for higher cams. Maybe the engine produces much more power and thus being hard exhaust limited, which increases octane requirements?
Here’s the engine but it looks like this could be an anomaly as I’ve made some other test engines and they seem OK.
