Out of video memory when opening car designer

Somehow the game started eating up all of the VRAM when launching the car designer in the recent week or two, while it didn’t do it before. I don’t think any game update happened, also I can’t recall a driver update. I haven’t changed my settings, the spec is still the same. I think the only thing that changed is that I’ve subscribed to a few new mods, but… how would that be connected? Are they all loaded up in a fresh car designer scene (with a new car)?

Specs and settings if that matters:

RTX 3060 Ti 8GB
16 GB RAM DDR4

3840x2160 windowed
Epic preset, but with 100% resolution scale
Custom RT:

auto DLSS

I’ve tried verifying the files, and while yes, on lower settings (medium with no RT, it was just a “this should work” choice) it works, it used to work no problem with higher ones too, so this is a bit annoying.

Oh, and I’ve sent the report when once it crashed after I didn’t click “ok” on the error message for too long, so maybe that will be useful?

Did you download the CS Materials pack from the workshop between the last time it worked and the first time it crashed?

I believe due to the lack of compression on those new texture files, it causes video memory crashes on certain hardware. I’d remove the mod and see if it works then.

Ok, I’ll try that, thanks for the suggestion

im not sure what could be causing the issue if its my matpack. the textuers arnt insane in size with the largeist being 2048, most are 1024.

do you have large amounts of custom textuers saved into global?

I have precisely zero custom textures saved, as I still haven’t figured out how to even do it.

And yes, for some reason unsubscribing the mod fixed it! A pity, since it seems nice, but well, I like my graphics settings more.
