I like doing vector art in my spare time. After a few years of practising, I think I’m getting the hang of it. Here are some samples:
All images are made in Inkscape.
Any feedback is welcome.

This is pretty damn good! Also I love/hate inkscape for it’s abilities and being free / interface and resource management.
Thanks for the comment!
I hear you. It could be miles better with a few tweaks and some extra features. I have similar feelings about Gimp.
Hint - you can make money off vector graphics. I certainly do.
I actually do too, although it’s nothing more than some beer money every once in a while.
Those are cool, love em
If you can buy beer with dis, that’s pretty nice!
wait… arent the 3 police cars from top gear ???
Yeah you can. You can draw somebody’s car (on an order) and charge them money for the pdf file so they can print it and put on their wall. Or you can go into logo design (did not enjoy this). I eventually stopped at designing liveries for drift cars for example. It’s not much but it’s something.
Ok, thanks
Yes indeed
Drift car liveries sounds like a cool thing to do. I’ve done a few commissions too, some logos and illustrations for study material.
I also have some stuff up on a print-on-demand site where people can purchase the design on a T-shirt or iPhone case and the like. The margins are quite low, but it’s a constant stream of money for not doing anything at all.
Ooh, very clean and great proportions. This is good stuff.
Also, it has to be said:
Seeing as this is an off-topic thread, I hope you wouldn’t mind guiding me in a general direction to learn to make this kind of stuff? You don’t have to personally teach me or anything, just some links would go a long way for me, thanks
For familiarizing with Inkscape and vectoring, drawing over photos or other bitmap images is a great way to practice.
This is a pretty good video on how to do it. it covers some of the essential tools you’ll need and shows how to work with nodes.
Now this is getting into where I said I wouldn’t go, but… please?
If you don’t mind too much, could you record your screen as you go through the process of making vector art? I’d be grateful to know how the pros do it. Don’t bother spending too much time, you don’t have to do any fancy editing, I don’t want to take up too much of your time.
Not a problem. I’ll give it a shot some time next week hopefully.
I forgot to specify the point for why I was asking. I get the inking part, now I was wondering about filling in the colors.
@partario if you’re in the middle of things, forget about it. I’ll just fiddle around in Inkscape and figure out myself. Didn’t want to leave this open.
If you run into any problems or have a specific question, feel free to drop me a pm.
