Just thought you cars might enjoy a video from my second favorite crowd-funded game, Project Cars.
Back in September I posted a video of the M3 on this same track, with a much worse tune than the current one. Fired the game up last night, and I was blown away by the improvements made to the car! My last cruise down this road was a serious chore to make a clean run, I can’t tell you how many hours and hours it took me over those 2 days to get it right. This time around was quite enjoyable. The car still bounces around a lot in some places, but this is due to me using the default suspension tuning, not the car being caddywhompus.
In addition to a much improved E30 chassis, the California Highway looks much better now! The game runs great too, it was a solid 30fps (max possible while recording with FRAPS), with everything maxxed out except for anti-aliasing. I probably could have turned that up as well but never did.
This game is really optimized for a driving wheel, but I’m still using an X360 controller. It’s as adequate as a controller could be in such a realistic simulator.
For those of you that don’t know, Project Cars is still in development and this is not entirely representative of the finished product. It keeps getting better.
Bad news is, they are no longer accepting money for “Tool Packs” as they called them, which allowed you early access to the game.
Here’s another video. Same road, same car, but entirely from the drivers perspective, and full 1080p clear resolution. Sadly, the program I use to create the above video degrades the quality a bit.

Here’s another video I made cruising through the Azure Coast.

Great videos. you system must be very powerful
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video’s!
I’d rank my system on the high end of medium gaming machines. Cost me a bit over $800 to build a year ago, here’s the performance specs:
Windows 8.1
AMD FX 8150 3.6Ghz Octocore Processor
32GB DDR3 2300 RAM
256GB Seagate SSD
Dual SLI GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB Video Cards
If I could change anything, I’d trade in the dual video cars for a single more powerful card. When a game is designed to take advantage of SLI, the results are fantastic, but not many games are really made for that. Some games gain zero performance at all from SLI. I’ve always wanted to build an SLI machine though, so I’m glad I got it out of my system.
From here on out, I’ll just buy the most expensive single card I can afford. If I can afford two of the most expensive cards on the market, then I’ll SLI again… but it’ll be a while before I have that kind of throw-away cash for a computer, other things rank higher on the list.
Finally got my Nurburgring video’s up! I gave up on trying to make a picture in picture version… the software just wasn’t cooperating with me. It was a fun ride! I turned the time advance all the way up, and made the weather transition from rain to fog, to get some variety into it. Here they are:
