You and I have to talk…

Is 98 RON Super leaded fuel allowed or not?

If it isn’t, could you please make that clear on the OP?

If it is, can the submitted cars be altered to run with that fuel?

While searching for superior engines from the peoples republic, Uri found a Mr Jeremija Clarkski, who offered a new capitalist engine with more than 600 horse powers. However, Uri smart, Uri saw that engine was fat like capitalist pig. Still, Uri thorough and ask for price. He work out we could just about afford capitalist engine by selling parts of glorious clunker. Uri realised that cheaper parts and heavy engine make glorious clunker worse at corners than school bus, so he continue looking for good engine

I am going to run a quick poll on fuel, as I have receive a lot of questions about it.

Here is a poll, i recommend all participants take.

It will also be posted on the front page.

Hmm I hate to be THAT GUY but are we able to resubmit? tried a different approach and took 5 seconds off my time.

Send it in, I will remove your previous entry, if its named the same, please add v2 or something to the name so I can tell the difference.

So much fun to be had in this competition! I can’t wait to see the crazy ways people modify the iconic Comrade Clunker

Honestly I am suprised. Everything from highboost 1.7l I4 to a 6.3l fuel injected v8. No 6I’s though :-/

Thanks for being THAT GUY on my behalf. I also found an extra 5 seconds.

I think a v8 craze has swept the people of Comrade. old I4’s are littering scrapyards as black market v8’s are taking over the racing scene.

Is all uri’s fault! I tried to use good approved engine but he kept saying “cousin nikolai why wasting time on tiny ponies? Come see new vee 8’s, have whole country’s worth of horses !”

Uri also tell me that “I6 engine longer than train, you may have I6 but only if you sit on gearbox”.

It’s really cool that everyone’s doing engine swaps and such (and more power to you  ) but the basic car also has a lot of potential in it… I built a Clunker that was solely based on parts available in Comrade and re-tuning and hand-building of the existing design and I got some surprising results!

Basic clunker goes 0-100 in 18.9 sec and does the track at 122.38 whereas the lovingly hand-built, blueprinted and honed version of the clunker (with a mil-spec 4 speed man from a Gov’t truck) does 0-100 in 8.5 sec and the track in 102.4 (1:42.45)! :open_mouth:

I think I’m enjoying this competition a little TOO much!

I look forward to the results! The clunker is oddly lovable, tiny wheels, the engine (stock) blows up if it revs over 5k, a 18.9 0-100 time, no safety features… its the people car among peoples cars!

I’ve built 3 cars myself, I won’t compete them but its a fun scenario with a lot to think about (where did you get the engine from? how big of an engine will fit? how far off budget am I? did that fix it? etc)

My first take was a destroked 7500rpm pushrod carbed clunker and it managed in the 90’s, I liked the sound and balance of the car a lot more and I would definitely drive that version over the monster I just submitted. That said 5 seconds is 5 seconds.

I know, the eco-friendly-ish I4’s in a less then 1900lb car are fairly speedy and fun BUT as far as competitions go, v8’s or turbo’d I4’s are dominating.

I agree with highoctanelove, I initially built a 120hp version with just the stock engine format but with some slight parts upgrades, and sure enough it returned similar performance to the beloved Suzuki Liana of Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. But, well… Manche mentioned big block v8, so I had to give it a go! (Though I ended up using a small block heh).

Regardless of new rules, I’m not going to make any further changes to my Crusher. Evgeny is happy not to go to the Gulag as is, and I was just happy to have built a clunker that outperforms some serious sporting capitalist vehicles for a fraction of the cost

I cranked out 230 or so with a boosted refined stock clunker block, fitted with custom grind cam, higher quality parts (with high emphasis on pushrods) and a rich 13:1 mix

Then I considered making a frankenstein flatplane v8 by merging 2 clunker blocks toghether (it has been done before, merging 2 inline engines to make a v)

then i said NHET! I will make a goverment limo get written off by “accidentally” making a tree land right in the middle of it but shhhhh

Just for sharing sake here you have the clunker siamese engine with both camshafts moved to the cylinder heads (because the ohv would need an entirely new camshaft and give both cams a more aggresive profile can be done by plating the stock unit with some hard metals… Common practice where i live where there isnt much of aftermarket market

PD: If you merge 2 Inline engines and bothe of them keep their crankshaft you get a U engine, a modern example of this is the Hayabusa V8 (I’m not sure about that last one) but making a U8 engine in shop out of 2 I4 would a resourcefulness Lenin would be proud of.

Though you said not to change the frame and stuff, I’m going to assume everything that is in the chassis tab can’t be changed. However, are we allowed to change the quality sliders on the frame/suspension thing?
