QFC74 - old dog, new tricks

Bedford, United Kingdom 2007

The hosts of the popular British motoring entertainment show “Full Speed” are putting together a comparison test between classic lightweight sports car, and a modern “warm hatch”.
The modern car for the test is the 2007 Alouette Primo sport. In an early practice run it managed a time of 1:20 at the Narnilla junior course after the warm up lap. The potential classic sports car needs to beat this time, but not necessarily be a lot faster.

Rules

  • Trim and variant must be 1962
  • No legacy/open wheel/meme bodies.

Purchase price is both a 3[?]-star & 1 star priority? And SVC is both 2 & 1 star?

Not sure if this was available in 1962, but it’s a means of keeping the classics on a level playing field with the Alouette.

@Capri78 Good call, that’s what I get for using my last qfc as the template

@abg7 , the round is set in 2007 so you couldn’t get leaded fuel then

Who won? Who’s next? You decide!

Is there no minimum safety rating? Given there are at least some safety requirements in 1962, I’d hope there would be a minimum number to achieve.

Is downforce allowed?

i don’t think safety existed in the 1960’s, basic 60’s would cover the things like safety glass.

With aero i’ll say no positive downforce since an out of the showroom sports car would be very unlikely to use it.

You can’t get basic 60’s in 1962, maximum is standard with a +3 techpool usage

Oh yeh basic doesn’t unlock until halfway through the decade does it? Well either way safety isn’t important

Just don’t crash and you’re fine probably…

Also, got a question, are mid-/rear-engined cars allowed like in Porsche’s?

Yeah 356 or 550 style cars are fine.

for 1962 the MT got tuned by legendary OFFY, who de-stroked the factory 2.3 from larger model cars to make a 1.8L for the Sport touring series. Along with balancing, blue printing, they also equipped it with OFFY DOHC Kit the results 115HP and a 7,000 Redline. This of course is a big step up from the 76hp the cars original 1.2L had. The weight and aero were also tweaked to make the car more agile. This limited Factory special did come at a cost of almost 15,000 compared to the base models 6,500 but whos going to remember the MT 1200?
