Automation is just updating again at this moment, steam says 14,6 GB - might be a change to the stats. But as the host scrutineered the entries already for rule complicance, I think this won’t affect the challenge.
I think as long as we didnt have massive spooley bois on the trucks, we should be fine
Ugh. Now is not a good time for an update, might have to go run offline a bit.
Yeah I got the stats loaded to my spreadsheet but I’m carefully reviewing everything so it would be extremely good to not screw up more things. We lost some entries due to exceeding ET and cost, and I assume that is all because of updates and the damn techpool.
Trying to do justice to all entrants in the midst of these changes is tough.
I vote we just enter everything- evidently there’s going to be at least some significant change made, which will just screw everything up.
I don’t know though, I’m not the host
I checked it, and it looks like cars became more reliable but more expensive. No ET issues so far. Whoever left a little gap on the car’s price should be safe.
A lot of the cars are right at the limit, no padding. I’m working it out.
Chuckles I’m in danger
This most recent update seems to have made cars a flat $100 more expensive due to aero engineering, so we could work with an effective $30,100 max budget
Mine went to $30,300, I was completely maxed on budget previously.
Im still a good 3k under budget
it’s now 31k again
automation WHY
This is why I am VERY conservative on budgets when I enter challenges. My truck is around 21k.
well, mine was $26k until automation decided it hated me
That is reasonable, so you’re not to blame. Lanson neither, as that wasn’t to expect, but making budget caps in these days seems difficult.
Let’s see how he handles it, I am just happy for the moment that I’m not the host.
…My truck’s price, for the second time, is still somehow completely unchanged in price ($29,900), and got only a boost in drivability and reliability. I’m starting to worry something’s wrong wrong with my copy of the game; Like, did the stats not update yet? Or did I download the wrong update?
The changes probably just center around some technology I didn’t use (and perhaps should’ve?), or they all cancelled each other put price wise… but I’m still a bit worried about it.
I checked my entry and it still comes in under budget.
Group,
I haven’t really said much but I have been putting in hours to try and make this work. That said, there have been major issues. Techpools needing to be zeroed but not when submitted causes prices to change, as well as ET’s. This blew some people out, even two versions ago. This also affects stresses on the engine, so some of you that had techpool points when not supposed to have engines that do not quite run as well as anticipated. The price changes are also a real problem. Also, one set their engine family to 2012, which when adjusted down caused engine issues too. Separating the issues that occurred from the updates is the trick.
Maybe you are thinking, “just bin 'em!”. The thing here is that I didn’t quite get done with the necessary evaluations before that last update came through, so while I could bin, it is somewhat unfair because I can’t tell who originally made it under, and who went over out of all 23. Therefore, I’ve decided to report on all cars without binning for overages, but each overage costs points. This should even the playing field and the best truck should win, factoring that someone with an unfair advantage by way of overshooting the original budget or original ET will get held back a bit with a penalty, rather than an outright bin and loss. I hope it works.
That last update caused me to have to re-import all 23 competitors and essentially start over on the objective measures. Hope to have more to report here in a few hours.
I have a question related to some trucks. Why are people setting the cooling way beyond 50, some even maxing it out? This seems to just eat up aerodynamics, so I’m curious if there’s a reason this is being done. Also, what
wow, i guess automation just has some sort of grudge against me, huh
You said it eloquently earlier in a message to me, its the nature of Automation’s early release condition. IMO no worse than the entire universe of No Man’s Sky getting rebooted after major updates. That was pretty rough going (but eventually you just role-play that crap in.) I’m in some ways role-playing like the rules just changed for carmakers overnight, and we’re all coping.
