Lore (don´t expect too much)

While originally meant to be a coupe version of the standard Albor compact sedan, there was already a two door sedan version of the car which was considered to fill that gap well enough.

But with a prototype already made, cancelling it would be a waste. Instead, a turbo was fitted to the Twin Cam engine, and along with state of the art electronic fuel injection, it produced over 200hp. We don´t know what the designers were consuming when they created the body of this car, but the result ended up getting green light for production, somehow.

1977 AMS Archer 500

Featuring more tech and firepower than Star Wars, wrapped up in a body with more sex appeal than Charlie’s Angels, the Archer is here to help you ascend. With a 400-bhp 48-valve 5.0L V12 driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox and a geared limited-slip differential, plus race-bred suspension, brakes and aerodynamics, every drive is a thrill ride. And with a luxurious interior trimmed in genuine high-quality leather, wood, and aluminum, as well as a standard-fit cassette tape stereo and air conditioning, the Archer is at home cruising in town or on the freeway as it is tackling a racetrack or a winding road.

I’ll be interested to see how mine and yours will compete against one another, since we both chose the same body.

Hulme 55 - Your key to driving heaven

The Hulme 55 is made to be the most advanced supercar there is. Named after its all alloy 5.5L V12, this engine possesses individual throttle bodies and world first electronic intake port fuel injection feeding air and fuel through 48 valves, producing 465bhp and 405 lb-ft of torque. When your supercar weight less than 1300kg, that’s enough to send your car to 100km/h in less than four seconds on its way to a 305km/h top speed. Better yet, that engine is in the back, and sending power through a limited slip differential, meaning this car is no slouch around the corners either.

Don’t think this car is just for the track, though, as a sumptuous interior and the best sound system we could fit make it a joy for you to drive, whether alone or with a lucky friend. So buy a Hulme 55. You know you want to.

BMA Galactica

What do you need to go for the stars ? A spaceship. So we’ll give you one.
Introducing the all new BMA Galactica. Fire up the sweet 3.4L V6, which has been carefully crafted to reach superlight speeds, ahem, I mean, 8000 rpm. Delivering 330 hp and 330 Nm of torque around 7000 RPM, you’ll want to make her sing, and boy she can sing. Paired to a 5 speed manual, the power goes to the rear wheels through a clutched LSD. Combined with a curb weight of 990 kg, all of these combined propel the Galactica from 0 to 100 kph in 3.7 seconds, does a kilometer in 21.6 seconds, and flirts with top speeds of 290 kph. So get ready to aim for the galaxies.

1975 Courageux Visage - i

Lore

Introduced as a new model in 1975, the Visage continued the line of Courageux’s rear engined sports cars in a lightweight package.

Originally launched with a 2.0 four cylinder engine, a 2.6l V6 was added a year later for much needed extra performance.
The model here is the V6 with mechanical fuel injection which gave the car 193bhp@6500rpm which when conbined with a low weight of 878 gave very impressive off the line performance combined with reasonable running costs

Swanson 937 CPC

250hp! Yep, that’s all you get in lead poisoned markets; no fuel injection for you. A blessing in disguise perhaps, as the old-school high carb edition is far more reliable, and quite a bit cheaper to buy at $32.900.
Lightweight aluminium body (1058 kg) and a strong midrange enables “adequate” performance with a 4,4 second 0-100 and a 260 km/h top speed.

Makes others green with envy

Driving a Primus RT320 is a good thing, but what if you aim for a supercar instead of a sports car? Seeing the cost of purchase and runnig of the one or other Italian masterpiece, there should be something more accessible, yet performing vehicle.

The company Znopresk, normally our competitor and their tuning department Nopresco changed the Primus RT320 for the better - the Nopresco 370. Sold by both PRIMUS GLOBUS and Znopresk dealers.

NOPRESCO 370 - because a sports car shouldn’t ruin you.

Round One Eliminations

@crwpitman1

Pitmobile Vincent

$65,800
4.9 V12 DOHC 48 valve SPEFI
347 hp @ 6800 rpm
0-100: 5.34
1320ft: 13.39s
vmax: 283kmh

While this car is is plenty fast enough, the actual sportiness figure is weak (30.6) and the car is far and away the most expensive of all entrants. Scores extremely well in places that are not high priority like prestige, environmental resistance, and safety, but at this price, it had better be a standout in the more important places; unfortunately, it is not.

@IDK158

Tiharris Summer V8

$36,400
4.0 V8 Flatplane DOHC 32 valve MFI
296 hp @ 6100 rpm
0-100: 6.3s
1320ft: 14.47s
vmax: 257 kmh

The worst sportiness in test (25.0), second slowest acceleration figures, and 3rd worst fuel economy (17.3l/100km). Right about at the median in purchase price and rather inexpensive service costs (1410.9). Comfort is good but drivability and reliability are on the weak side. Unfortunately, having the worst sportiness, a top tier priority, won’t cut it here.

@ldub0775

Takahashi Soarer GT-R

$41,300
4.3 V8 DOHC 32 valve MFI
321 hp @ 6400 rpm
0-100: 5.82s
1320ft: 14.23s
vmax: 251 kmh

The second worst sportiness in test (25.7), a surprise given rather sporty looks. Only car in test to choose an automatic; unsurprisingly it is far and away the comfort leader, but it’s comfort advantage is less than its sportiness deficit to the leading cars, even if comfort were as high a prioirty as sportiness. The automatic saps acceleration and makes this the 3rd slowest accelerating entry, although a sub 6 second sprint to 100 is still in good company among the inspirations.

@happyfireballman

Rhania LeStara F-16

$37,700
4.0 H6TT DOHC 24 valve MFI
405 hp @ 7200 rpm
0-100: 5.7s
1320ft: 13.62s
vmax: 277 kmh

This car is in the lower end of the more expensive half of the cars, but doesn’t have much to show for it, with a weak sportiness score (33.2), expensive service costs, high fuel consumption, weak drivability, and acceleration figures that are, while overall good enough, surprisingly slow for the car’s prodigious power figure.

@GassTiresandOil

Durendal 366 Melbourne

$35,500
3.4 V6TT DOHC 24 valve SPEFI
366 hp @ 5900 rpm
0-100: 3.4s
1320ft: 11.59s
vmax: 281 kmh

Among the fastest entries in acceleration figures, excessively surpassing the example vehicles, but somehow only nets a 28.6 sportiness score. A shame, as the rest of the stats are all quite strong, and unlike most of the obscenely fast entries, it has good service costs, good fuel economy, and very good reliability ratings.

@RAZR

Moretti Zenzarossa F640T LE

$42,900
3.4 H6TT SOHC 24 valve MFI
544 hp @ 6200 rpm
0-100: 4.7s
1320ft: 12.06s
vmax: 311 kmh

The most powerful entry, however acceleration figures are not among the fastest due to extreme turbo lag. Sportiness is good, but the car is on the weak end in all other categories, especially the effectively unbearable 5.7 comfort.

@SheikhMansour

Hulme 55

5.5 V12 DOHC 48 valve MPEFI
467 hp @ 6600 rpm
0-100: 3.5s
1320ft: 11.35s
vmax: 308 kmh

A very fast car, but low sportiness (43), middle of the road elsewhere, and minimal styling. One of the more expensive options, and rather high running costs (3962.2).

@Vento

MT Wave

$30,000
3.8 V8T SOHC 16 valve MFI
388 hp @ 6800 rpm
0-100: 5.11s
1320ft: 12.9s
vmax: 294 kmh

Really a shame this car looks the way it does. Statistically, this is actually a strong car: good sportiness (50), cheap service costs, median fuel economy, and great reliability, 3rd best in test. All that at a very low price. Comfort is a weak point though, and, style was a top tier priority and this looks… the way it does.

@abg7

AMS Archer 500

$58,900
5.0 V12 DOHC 48 valve MPEFI
400 hp @ 6700 rpm
0-100: 4.0s
1320ft: 12.06s
vmax: 294 kmh

A good attempt at an all-arounder, with solid drivabililty and comfort. Unfortunately, sportiness is on the low end (40) and the price is the 2nd highest of all, and still more than $5k clear of the 3rd most expensive. Just doesn’t move the needle enough given the steep price to go further.

@Bbestdu28

BMA Galactica

$41,200
3.4 V6 DOHC 24 valve MPEFI
332 hp @ 7400 rpm
0-100: 3.7s
1320ft: 11.82s
vmax: 281 kmh

An incredibly fast and light car, but weak on sportiness (42.2) and at or below average across the board on the rest of the stats. Styling is not to my taste; looks more like the 90s than the 70s.

@xsneakyxsimx

Landsknecht Bergziege

$28,800
5.7 V8 OHV 16 valve 2x4 barrel
311 hp @ 6000 rpm
0-100: 5.22s
1320ft: 13.51s
vmax: 262 kmh

A rather affordable entry with good service costs but the worse fuel economy in test by a very wide margin. Most stats are about average, which given the price, is a good showing. Unfortunately, sportiness is weak (34.6)

@conan

Basilio Murgese V12

$43,100
5.0 V12 SOHC 48 valve MPEFI
366 hp @ 6800 rpm
0-100: 5.22s
1320ft: 13.27
vmax: 280 kmh

One of a handful of 2+2 entries, an extremely well rounded entry with the best reliability of all. Quite good service costs too. Unfortunately, the 31.9 sportiness is just too low to be a top contender, especially at the price.

More reviews to come.

A shame, some of them looked really nice. But it’s also painful the other way, when a good entry looses due to strange design.
@Vento if you want to take part in another challenge and need some help with the design, feel free to ask for help. Obviously you can build good cars, if you want, I’ll try to make them look as good as they drive.

Well, hell. After seeing cars with twice my sportiness rating get binned as well, I have no room to complain. Still don’t understand how my rating was so low though lol.

Now, I missed the deadline accidentally due to overplaying the new Need for Speed, and I apologize for that. What I will say is that it’s very strange to see mid-40s sportiness figures be considered low. Did everybody else just gun it for the 60s or something and effectively nullify the competition?
