QFC63 - City Pop Blues [Closed, Finalists and Afterword out!]

Given how comfort-centric the challenge is, if you’re only allowing +2 rear seats, then comfort should be recalculated using only the front seats because those absolutely murder the comfort rating. Otherwise, there’s no benefit beyond realism (and a modest practicality boost, maybe?) to adding those in

Yeah I was testing it earlier and even with full back seats it isn’t as comfortable in game as just having the 2 seats in front. I think I will have it so you can have full seats in the back but only the front seats will be added in the scoring makes it more fair for everyone.

In automation some shooting brakes bodies are classified as a “hatchback” which I mean technically isn’t wrong but, it’s also a sporty wagon and shooting brakes are also in the wagon section in game. Although, when researching more about this they were kind of rare in that era IRL like the only cars I can think of is the: Volvo 480, Geo storm wagonback and the Z3 coupe (although the Z3 coupe is a bit newer) and two of those cars weren’t marketed as a wagon but instead a hatch or coupe.

So I am kind of unsure since the lines are a bit blurred in what counts a hatchback, coupe or a shooting brake and idk if it fits for the challenge tbh.

fair enough, ill put it on the back burner for now.

AWD and automatic transmissions could potentially be OP (even in isolation) - why not nerf either or both of them, and/or buff RWD and manual transmissions to compensate? Especially since I’m expecting some entries (including mine) to have either (or both) of the latter two.

Such recalculations are OTT for a QFC IMO. If it had been a CSR where the way to go IRL had been RWD manual but the stats had given AWD auto a huge benefit somehow, then maybe yes. Seems like he wants a rolling techfest which would not rule out either….

two door coupe and three door hatch only? What about something that comes up as a two door sedan in the game but looks like a coupe. From the inspirations the Skyline, Silvia, Leopard and Soarer and others would fall into this segment.

I agree, some bodies are marked like coupés and looks like sedans, and vice versa, there’s no logic to it, so I suggest extending it to them. A too sedan looking entry could always get hampered by a lower styling score.

Ah yeah I’ll update it so 2dr sedans are included in there and try to clarify it a little better.
(God I suck at making the rules not confusing)

Don’t forget to set your speed limiter to 180kmh / 112mph for “realism” (true fact) (I am not trying to make myself more competitive I swear)

Also I’ll try to change the inspiration list because 1. Too many cars and 2. Most of them don’t really fit in like the kei cars and sports stuff

Run? why not cruise through the 90s!

CBC Cruiser, a classic and familiar style coupe with an inline 6 RWD manual but now with a turbo! The SX utilizes the SHX 2.5 TVTi to make 270hp to effortlessly cruise in highspeed on the highway.

That may not be necessary, especially on cars manufactured outside Japan (according to lore).

per japanese wikipedia (automagically translated)

(couldnt find any actual stuff from JAMA because lazy)

The power limit is probably free-ish range (it was lied about, yes, but I’m not sure why one would need that much power here anyway)

Theoretically, speed limit is whatever you want if it’s an import, I guess… if you really want to be a rebel…

Would we get dinged for realism if we DON’T follow the power and speed rules?

I mean most luxury coupes made between 200hp and 300+hp (that and performance isn’t that big for this challenge).

And as super Saturn said it’s kinda confusing when you try to make a jdm car and how some cars there have a speed limit of 180km/h or some 240km/h and imports is just kinda whatever so I just think for the sake of brevity and the whole gentleman’s agreement on power (which most of the time made more power anyway) I won’t exactly count that when judging.

What I will count is if the amount of power a car makes, is understandable from a late 80s early 90s perspective for example, BMW 850csi made the most power out of my inspiration list at around 380HP and a top speed of around 255km/h (electronically limited without the limiter it’s around 290km/h) so like around the ball park of that is what I’d count as the limit. (That and this isn’t TMCC38 we are not making custom tuned vehicles this is QFC).

Does the new Al rima update count as stable?

No, since it’s a beta build as of now.
