Yeah, it’s too late to announce an ad requirement now. It should’ve been posted before entries opened.

Duly noted.
All non-ad entries will also be deemed eligible. My mistake, so my burden to bear. And I’ve got a fun lore way to implement this anyway. ![]()
That’s the right attitude, IMO. I’ve generally made it a point when hosting to review all entries, including outright trolls and those that get disqualified for whatever reason. Effort rewards effort, entertainment and contribution to car culture is what this is all about, and making lemonade out of lemons - turning trolls and rulebreakers into plot twists and lore - is usually a lot more fun for everyone involved than simply throwing them away.
I’ve seen such a thing in A Whip For Grandma, which I think was the first challenge I wasn’t insabinned in, really adds to the immersion ![]()
man all the cars submitted here look so awesome! wish I could participate here:D
How is it going?
Not as well as I’d like. Mental health flareups have been a little bad and having to judge dozens of people at once, even with mostly objective criteria, has been AAAAA-inducing!
But I expect to have a result by Tuesday and possibly Monday. The entries have loaded and I’ve been plugging the data into the sheet so that’s something ![]()
Those days for this week have come and gone… But what about next week?
Does this look like NA to you guys? shinybat knows ive sent like 5 .cars in 2 days to update my engine, back then i couldnt decide whether to go fully on fuel economy or add more power but here i am still trying things on that engine
If its not quite NA yet (by NA, i mean progressive curve like naturally aspirated), what else can i do lol
To answer your question, not quite. An NA engine would have a flatter torque curve, especially for something that only revs to 5k.
To ask my own… you’re updating the engine on an entry two weeks after subs closed?
im new to the game, im still fiddling around with stuff and learning stuff thats the reason
edit: yesterday i saw a post on reddit where a guy tried to make a turbo curve look like an NA one, i said why not
As long as it’s not on the entry itself, because that would help explain why it’s taking a while.
To match an NA power curve, I’d advise that a good start is to look at some real ones:
GM LT1:
Lightly modified BMW M62 (mine!):
Honda K20?
Nissan VQ35
Mercedes OM617 (NA):
ah no no, ive sent my entry i think a day before the end, and i think OP is busy with life
M62? let me guess you have an E39
i seen what you mean by flat now, means i need to give up high end boost for low rpm torque now
thanks for the examples btw, is that OM617 a diesel?
The M62 is from an E39, installed in an E34 with M60B40 intake, M60B30 exhaust, and custom software (why it got a dyno pull in the first place). The OM617 is indeed a diesel, tho not turbocharged and in intent and execution more petrol-like than most diesels.
Yeah, notice that there’s not much of a difference between torque at peak and at low RPMs. A long gradual dropoff in torque after peak is normal, but the sort of steady climb before peak that yours shows is atypical for an NA petrol engine. It looks more like a CF supercharged one, which is what I thought it was at first glance.
hey, any updates on the challenge? ![]()
I’m assuming the host is still busy with real life, so I’ll wait for status updates from him in the meantime.
