With a longitudinal platform, rear-biased AWD and a powerful naturally-aspirated V6, the Eterne XG34 is a proper premium sports compact crossover, one of the last of a dying breed.

genuinely did not know that was a thing . Ive been using this nameplate since I got into automation ~2 years ago (Looooooooong before I even knew of the forums). That guy’s stuff is REALLY good I gotta say, def much better than any of my works past or present. I’m still yet to really establish any company lore yet, my take on the Cascadia nameplate is moreso a “parody” or imitation of Chrysler with design elements in general lifted from American culture (def not me just coping with my terrible build quality, it’s Definitely 100% intentional… definitely)

The Cascadia thread I referred to was created in the pre-Ellisbury (4.1/4.24) era of Automation (with which nothing is compatible with later game builds), and as such is essentially deprecated; in other words, any model lines and generations they had would need to be remade from the ground up for the latest stable release.

Scoring - Part 1

Note: I have everything scored, but write-ups are in progress. I am going to be trying to get the write-ups out in bits and pieces this week. So, here are the first four write-ups.

16th - Areca 3.0tt - @adamisapple

First thing to say here is that it’s always good to see somebody new in a challenge, and I hope this result doesn’t deter this contestant from entering again. Unfortunately, the inexperience shows here with a lot of engineering decisions that don’t make a lot of sense put together (like a manual locker 4x4 system paired with a dual-clutch transmission) and that add a lot of cost and complexity without doing a lot to improve results (like an engine that has twin turbos, a billet steel crank, a pre-cat not needed to meet emissions, and VVT/VVL). There was clearly some effort put into this design, but there are a number of things that just look a little bit off, like the tiny rear reflectors and the headlights that just don’t seem to really fit with the body shape.

15th - FMW CS200 - @jorge_703

This is a tough one because this is actually one of the better engineered cars in the competition, with scores that are average or better in almost every scoring category. Unfortunately, it takes a scoring hit from having some of the highest service costs in the competition and then gets absolutely tanked in the rankings by a lackluster design. It’s bland and seemingly without a lot of thought put into the design, with not much in terms of detail. The LED headlights seem too modern for 2016, and I can’t figure out where the front turn signals are. This would be one of the top finishers if this were an engineering-only contest, but with design as a five-star priority, it’s tough to get ahead without a design that’s at least average.

14th - Mara Urban 1.6 KE - @andiD

To me, Mara is one of the most immediately recognizable brands on these forums, and the Urban mostly delivers what you’d expect from a Mara. It’s dirt cheap at $22,400, the cheapest in the competition. It’s generally competent. It falls a little short of the Mara value proposition in running costs, with very good fuel economy (41 mpg) that’s offset by, surprisingly, service costs that are on the higher side. I’m guessing that’s due to the turbocharged engine that leaves little wiggle room in the engine bay. And it’s good some of the highest reliability marks–69.3–although not quite top marks. But bare steel panels mean it has the lowest environmental resistance in the challenge. That wouldn’t be fatal, but then there’s the design. It’s a Mara through and through, which means the design is pretty simple and flat. The front fascia just looks off as well, being extremely upright and flat. The design gives the Mara a big hit in the rankings. But if you ask me, it scores pretty well from the perspective of delivering what you’d expect from a Mara.

13th - Moravia Burner EX - @ElectroshockCZ

An uneven entry with some notable highs that include best-in-class environmental resistance (70.4 thanks to all-aluminum construction) and very good fuel economy of 40 mpg. But it has a lot of mechanical complexity (like an active suspension) that gives it poor reliability, and drivability and sportiness are its real Achilles’ heel, not helped by non-variable hydraulic steering and also being the largest vehicle in the field in terms of footprint. The design doesn’t really help or hurt it, with a simple but generally OK design. Not a stunner, but not ugly. I would have liked to see a little more detail in some places, like the taillights actually being split by the liftgate, and I also feel the LED taillights are a touch too modern for 2016.
