RA Automotive Group

INTRODUCTION

RA Automotive Group was established in the early 1980’s by two Polish migrants in West Germany. Seeking to create innovative and visually unique vehicles which were unavailable in their country at the time, Ralph Zielinski with his son Albert, both specialists in mechanical engineering, founded a small company dedicated towards designing luxury and high performance cars. The business expanded fairly quickly and now the Group consists of three brands:

  • RA Motors -> a luxury branch of the group, focusing on supreme comfort and incorporating cutting-edge technology to their cars
  • Focus Automotive - specialising in fairly affordable hatchbacks and mid-level cars with uncompromising fuel economy
  • SR Engineering - the performance division of the group, under whose auspicion most powerful and sporty versions of RA cars are made - the SR editions.

2010 RA Octavius

Come and be astonished.

Behold this wild beast, for it is truly one of the greatest creations to come out under RA Motors badge.
It’s bold. It’s powerful. It’s modern.

The 2010 model is a worthy continuation of the marvellous Octavius heritage. This model’s always had a special place in our hearts and you can be sure - lots of love came into creating this car.

The Octavius catches the eyes of the onlookers immediately - the aggressive yet elegant design of its carbon fiber body is truly a pleasure to admire. The front end features signature though significantly revamped RA Motors design with headlamps situated runusually low and mean looking grille, with separate position lamps where the headlamps would nomally be. This time, however, we’ve also incorporated DRLs to comply with EU regulations and used this to create the “tiger-claw” design (our designer came up with this idea based on the scratches he found on his trusty old Volvo some idiot had bumped into in the parking lot), further amplyfing the perception of its inherently aggresive nature.

Such a bold car required an equally bold engine. In order to do the Octavius justice, we invited our friends from SR Engineering on board to share their expertise in high-performance engines and boy did they deliver.
Under the hood you can find a very fine piece of their engineering - 4,6L V10 DOHC GDI engine, utilising both VVL and VVT in order to ensure the best power delivery accross its 8400RPM rev range. The figures? 506HP @8100 RPM and 485Nm @6700RPM delivered straight to the rear axle. A powerful, refined and fairly reliable powertrain. Remember to feed it regularily - it saps ~15l/100km.

The performance is stunning. Although the car weighs 1650kgs, propelling this vehicle from 0-100kph in 4,5s is no biggie, and the top speed of 300kph ain’t too shabby either. Especially when coupled with our dual-clutch RapiShift 6 transmission. And when you need to stop, by the press of the brake pedal it will come to a halt from 100kph in just 28,9m, so you’d better wear a seatbelt.

But what about comfort?

Yep, we did think about it too.
Featuring our trademark LiquiSmooth S hydropneumatic suspension, the ride quality is totally unparalleled. The user can choose between three modes: Comfort, which softens the springs assuring smooth ride, Sport, which lowers the suspension and makes it slightly firmer for better handling, Race - for ultimate track performance.
The seats are hand made from start to finish for the greatest comfort possible, the interior sports a fine mix of modern ligthweight composite and noble leather, and our infotainment system with SatNav will not let you get bored or lost. That is, if you ever find the need to turn it on at all.

The Octavius. Available for just 75000$. Come and be astonished.

Only slightly faster in top speed than this $34440 (about $50k with inflation) car from 2000. However, your car is much heavier and brakes quicker than the Bobcat even with the added weight. Good design on your part.

Sporting a modest 371 hp 4.4 liter V10, this car may not peak your interest at first - until you realize it weighs only 2300 pounds! This low weight allows the monstrous, mid-engined Bobcat to accelerate in a blistering 3.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 172 miles per hour. It also won’t bankrupt you, since it only costs $34440. So come over to your local Tigrica dealership and buy one today. It won’t hurt - until you crash it.

I really like the comfort stuff. Most sports cars don’t have that.
Still, most of my cars are pretty disastrous so I guess I don’t really have the experience to criticize yours.

Truth be told, this model isn’t about sheer speed but the balance of high peformance and supreme comfort, think of it as a GT vehicle rather than a hypercar

But wait, there is more…

2013 RA Octavius SRX

It’s bolder. It’s badder. It’s simply MORE

As soon as our newest Octavius came out, we came to think - could we make it any better?
Oh yes we could. Just like with previous iterations of that model.

The Octavius SRX was born in the warehouses of SR Engineering based on the original Octavius from 2010. In the 3 years between the two models couple of new technologies came afloat and we sought to incorporate them to enhance our top line model.
First - the body. Notice the introduction of subtle yet very functional lips and that sexy wing on the back end. Not only did we put them to distinguish the SRX from the original (duh), but also they produce much needed downforce, planting the car to the ground as it navigates through tight corners.

Then there was time for the engine, our trusty 4,6L V10. Our design chief once came to us and said we needed to “turbocharge” the design… so we slapped a turbocharger on it. Wait, sorry - two turbochargers, as if one wasn’t enough (sure as hell it wasn’t!). And what happens when you boost an already powerful engine? You get 782HP@7800RPM and 816Nm of torque @5500RPM. MUCH POWER.
To transfer the strength of these hypothetical horses to the wheels these time we utilised our IntelliDrive AWD power distribution system, which dynamically responds to road conditions and powers each axle with precisely the amout of power it needs without sacrificing grip.
Oh, and the transmission got an upgrade, too. This time you get RapiShift 7 dual-clutch transmission, just like in the RA-SR Maximus. Shorter gears, faster changes - all the goodies us petrolheads love.

And if you don’t need all these horses, you can always disengage the turbo with the flick of a swich.

So what’s the effect performance wise? Well, it’s not too much faster in terms of top speed, as it reaches 314kph, acceleration wise however it’s a different story. This car will get you from 0-100 in just 2,7 seconds. It’s as if we put a rocket booster on it!

What’s more, there were no sacrifices when it came to comfort - we retained the LiquiSmooth S hydropneumatic suspension with 3 operation modes, the interior looks and feels stunning as always. One change was made - the car now has onboard telemetry, which you can access from the central touchscreen on the dashboard.
There are also many more goodies this car comes with, but let’s skip the boring listing stuff…

The Octavius SRX. Simply MORE. Now for 100,000$.

Nice start to the company, though I’d be interested in seeing some specs for the car from the Overview tab. I’d also switch out that front grille for a different shaped one, it cuts off the flow in my opinion.

You ask, you get  Now updating.
TBH couldn’t really find a better grille, sadly, though I’m sure the current line-up will get a facelift sometime in the future, perhaps when the new UE4 build is up.

EVEN MOAAAAR

2011 RA-SR Maximus SRX

The track-eater.

Our little baby. Our beloved creation. The pinnacle of our engineering. This is the Maximus - the ultimate track car built by SR Engineering.
We could’ve just stripped the Octavius to pure metal, slapped a hyperengine on it and voila - job done.
So good that we didn’t.

This is not a car you can drive to church on Sundays. In fact, this ain’t even a car you should drive on regular roads. The Maximus was a car built solely for one purpose - to be excellent on the track. As such, we didn’t really care about regulations, which means it’s very likely this car won’t pass MOT. It doesn’t even have street-legal headlamps which is a considerable design change.

The looks especially should remind you that this little beast bites and claws. HARD. But, as they say, men like it hard. And fast.

Isn’t she a looker?

Step into the interior and notice how barebones the inside of the Maximus is. No insulation, no fancy materials, even no glovebox! There are only the driver, the engine, the wheels and the body. A perfect fusion of flesh and metal.
Speaking about the engine…

No, no V10 this time. In order to save weight, we utilised a purpose-built magnesium-AlSi turbocharged SR DVV-V6 DIT-675 engine, which is small, light, yet formidable. I mean, just look at the figures. 675 horsepower, 638Nm of torque… That’s quite a lot to process.
Especially when the power has to get to the wheels. Don’t fret over, we’ve got you covered. To ensure maximum performance, the Maximus sports an AWD system, simillar to the one used in the Octavius but prepped for track conditions. Couple that with our RapiShift 6 dual-clutch transmission and you can be sure that nothing’s going to hold you back in a race.
Then you’ll have to get used to its acceleration - 2,7s 100kph from standstill. Enough to grant you an advantage on short straigths.

However, if you dislike AWD in a track vehicle, you can always order an RWD system.

As far as the suspension goes, we didn’t cut corners. Double wishbone front, pushrod rear suspension. This is one of the few cars that doesn’t utilise our LiquiSmooth hydropneumatic system - instead, we went for an active system that is lightweight and keeps keeps your wheels in constant touch with the tarmac. As such, taking corners is simply a pleasure.

Any other numbers or facts? Oh - the Maximus weighs just above 1300kg. Well, 1254kg when RWD. And it’s all aluminium.
Also, there are no mufflers on this thing, so just wait until you hear THAT roar from this sexy exhaust…

The Maximus. The track-eater. Now from 39,000$ (I KNOW RIGHT).

I wouldn’t use different block and head materials.

What tyres are those? I can’t even find that tyre texture still in the game…

The grille shape and placement on both cars is odd, to say the least, and the headlights have an even more bizarre shape, but there is no doubt that they are both incredibly fast!

Not really buying all that “perfect track machine” thing, to be honest, when it needs an awd to actually put down it’s power to the ground, which in turn makes the thing heavier and worse in corners and on braking. Sorry.

Also that headlight arrangement, and especially taillights, those would be very divisive to say the least.

Semi slicks on the Maximus. Octavius SRX’s got sports compound.

That’s ok man, apples and oranges as they say. I honestly like AWD on cars, makes even wild beasts slightly easier to handle and I can live with the extra weight.
That said, there’s also an RWD version available, 50kgs lighter. Would be even lighter with carbon fibre body, but then the price skyrockets. Perhaps there’ll even be a road-legal version.

Hoooooly Damn! the Octavius
Looks a bit like a Maybach Excelero
It looks reaaaaly good, keep it up!

edit: all your models look stunning

Which can’t put all your power to the ground, can it?

With this setup, no, not without dialing down the power of the engine. Basically in any setup that I tried AWD was superior to RWD on the track with this car (numerous engine variations, power, chassis materials, gearbox etc.) in terms of lap time due to increased traction. That’s exactly why AWD is the primary option in the Maximus and I see nothing wrong with it, though I see your point which is why I’m working on making RWD version properly competitive.
TBH what it lacks is the proper aerodynamic package, but for this I have to wait a bit.

2010 RA Scarlett

Sky is the limit

… and that’s because - you’ve guessed it - this car is a convertible!

The Scarlett is an interesting position in RA Motors catalogue, much thanks to it being slightly different from the Octavius and the Optimus - while the former two aim for a very hype luxury premium markets, this one will not cost you an arm and a leg. But does that mean that it doesn’t live up to the marque’s standards?

Wrong. It does.

It looks aggresive, mean, aerodynamic, premium. We put every effort into making this car look and feel as luxurious and as RA as possible - well, with headlamps this low, you wouldn’t mistake this car for anything else! Be prepared for jealous onlookers in the parking lot of your workplace.

Some will even bring a recorder with them, cause it sounds just as sexy as it looks. But… is it a V10? Is it a V6?
No. Sometimes smaller is bigger.
Under the hood you won’t find a massive block of metal - instead, we’ve resorted to the trusty and well-known I4 design. 1,8L worth of a naturally aspirated engine, producing 177HP @ 8100RPM and 168Nm @ 6800RPM with a very wide powerband - this thing offers you 85% of torque from just about 2000RPM! This means accelerating from 0-100kph takes 7 seconds - enough to put a smile on your face every time you floor the throttle pedal. Also, it won’t ruin you - this engine needs only 8L/100km.
But if you think it’s slightly too much or you need even better fuel economy, we also offer you a 1,5L NA version, which produces 132HP and drinks only 6L/100km.
And if you think it’s too little, then we have you covered with a Turbo version tuned to 250HP and 268Nm of torque (you do want this engine. You do.).

To ensure proper amounts of fun, we’ve opted for first - making the Scarlett RWD, second - pairing the engine with a 6 speed manual transmission for ultimate control over your car.
But, again, this is not the only option, as you can (for a fee of course) order a 6 speed sequential gearbox if you like to have all the things on the wheel… or for something to do the job for you.

What’s more, we couldn’t resist putting our trademark LiquiSmooth S hydraulic suspension system in the Scarlett. We just simply love it too much on our cars (and so do our customers, mostly). Gives you superior ride comfort and safety (proved in moose test).
