Ravon car company

Ravon is an automaker founded in 1956 in Dalluha, previously engaged in servicing trucks and producing engines for heavy equipment. But in 1956, the company decided to enter the automobile market, and registered as an automaker to introduce the first
Ravon lable
production car, “RESTRAINT,” in 1958. The company then decided to go mainly into the truck/SUV market, and also to become alone of the first companies, thinking about fuel economy and ecology.

RESTRAINT is the first car from the RAVON company, and, however, this is not a simple small car, but quite a premium convertible with a V8 under the hood.

However, RAVON immediately decided to set a trend to reduce the fuel consumption of current cars, and began to think about the environment.

Therefore, in the “RESTRAINT”, not an 8 or even 10L huge v8 with a consumption of more than 30 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers was installed, but only a modest 6L at that time. Even though it used leaded gasoline, and did not have catalysts, and was also not very efficient, it was smaller and still required much less fuel, only about 24-25 liters per hundred, with a car weighing about 1.8 tons, and installed automatic gearbox.

Thanks to the tuning of the carburetor, and the size of the intake and exhaust manifolds, the engine was quite seriously “strangled” in favor of fuel economy, so it produced a modest 175 hp with a volume of 6 liters.

But the first development of an engine using the first bio-fuel and catalysts was already underway…

And RESTRAINT was the first and last car to use non-eco-friendly fuel.

But has the “RESTRAINT” achieved recognition and success in the Dalluha market? The demand was small, but it was still there, and of course many did not like the fact that the “car” turned out to be too “lazy”, it could only do “Burnout”. But as soon as the wheels stopped slipping, RESTRAINT began to accelerate quite slowly, and did not even reach the desired 200 km/h, even on the highway; rather, its limit was about 170 km/h and acceleration to 100 was about 12 seconds.

Therefore, the target audience of RESTRAINT buyers were elderly people who simply needed a large comfortable car for trips out of town or for shopping, and the removable soft top was an additional highlight, a convertible for a leisurely comfortable ride!

As a result, the first car from RAVON was produced from 1958 to 1969, and was quite popular among those over 40 with large wallets.

Ironically, there’s not as much restraint in its exterior styling as I hoped - but then again, it’s a more upmarket offering, so there’s method in their madness.

And so, after the release of the premium convertible, RAVON decided to focus more on the SUV and truck market, and in ’63 it already registered the G-Series model range.
A lineup of SUVs for harsh conditions, immediately prepared from the factory for serious OFF-Road.
The first of these was the G-60, the development of which began in 1962, and as a result it was presented by 1968, becoming the first in the line.
It looked like an archaic SUV on axles with leaf springs, large off-road wheels, ground clearance of more than 500 mm, and an archaic Spartan interior.
But what was under the hood of this beast? But here, however, it’s not a huge OHV v8, but a modest inline 6 sohc-2 with 4 liters of volume.
Producing a not so impressive 126 hp and only 295 h.m of torque, but that was enough for such low gears, and at the same time the consumption was already significantly less, the engine already passed environmental standards, and was powered by Bio fuel.
That for the price of an SUV, the price suv wasn’t that high…
It was produced for many markets, including the “GASMEA” market, but until 1972 many still complained that they could not fill with regular leaded fuel, but after 72 it began to actively appear at gas stations.
But in ’77, the 60 body was already replaced by the 80… Which had already abandoned the use of a carburetor in favor of a new mechanical injection, and was a little more comfortable.

RESTRAINT II, the 2nd generation of a passenger car from RAVON, the 1st generation of which was produced until 1969, the 1st generation of RESTRAINT, with which the company began… And in the period 69 to 73, RAVON nevertheless developed a new generation of a passenger car.

This is what RESTRAINT II became, but this time the company took into account some mistakes, and the 2nd generation was already a more utilitarian 4-door premium sedan.

An ordinary sedan, only large and premium, using the new line of “HG-6” engines, which were a fashionable at that time V-Type 6-cylinder engine with a 60-degree camber angle, and already using fuel injection, mechanical, instead of a carburetor, which gave greater engine efficiency, and reducing fuel consumption.

But the power in the first “HR-6 303” was not so much, only about 150 hp, but the torque… there was already quite an impressive 303 H.M.

But for such a sedan, for a leisurely comfortable ride, it was enough.

But still, the demand was mainly among older people; for young people, the 2nd generation was also weak, and there was actually less power than even first generation, and there was no longer any V8.

And there were reasons for this, the 2nd generation was even more focused on older people, who needed an exceptionally spacious, comfortable car for trips out of town or for shopping, but at the same time even more utilitarian than the 1st generation, which was a 2-door convertible.

Now it was possible to travel more comfortably to the dacha with grandchildren.

As a result, the 2nd generation lived for quite an impressive 11 years, until 1985, and was quite successful.

And bought it for trips to the cottage, traveling. Or even to cab companies for use as cabs.

And so, the time has come for the legendary 80 from RAVON, back in 1977, when no one thought that the G-80 would become such a success in many markets.
Development of which had been going on since 1973, which was supposed to replace the old G-60.
The main task that should have been incorporated in the new G-80 is more utilitarianism, more comfort.
It should have been a more versatile, comfortable car, and not the harsh old G-60, which was created exclusively for harsh conditions; the G-80 should have made it possible to move comfortably on ordinary roads, and, if necessary, show itself off-road.
This is what it turned out to be, a classic modern SUV, ready for any operating conditions, and transporting potatoes to the dacha, and children to school, and going hunting or picking mushrooms.
He has already received axles on springs for greater comfort and controllability, an automatic transmission in a luxury version, a cassette recorder, more comfortable seats, and of course a fresh engine!
Well, as you already understood, several configurations were already offered:
Base-Differentiated by the installed manual transmission, an additional downshift lever, manual differential locks, a new generation of the “T-6” engine, namely the second version, although in fact it was a completely new engine, of course with a mechanical injection system.
It produced about 146hp and 300H.M of torque, while being quite economical for its age and environmentally friendly.
Luxe-Differentiated by the installed automatic transmission, different color, including the interior, and the already familiar v6 “HR-6 303”, which was first installed in the RESTRAINT II sedan, with minor changes and modifications, which made it possible to gain a couple of Newtons of torque.
And not to say that the LUXE with an automatic transmission was less passable, no, the passability in real conditions was often no worse, but it was more comfortable due to the automatic transmission, you sit and just operate the gas pedal, that’s all that is required.
But still, those who wanted more control over the situation preferred manual transmission and took the base, it was also cheaper.
And as a result, the G-80 made a sufficient impression on buyers, and there was decent demand, thanks to which this generation lived right up to 1990, and after… it was replaced by the G-90, which was already… even too breakthrough in the spirit of the times, in the spirit late 20th century…

And finally, the beginning of the 1990s, the sunset of the 20th century, and the RAVON G-80, the legend, is replaced by a less legendary, but a more youthful suv G-90.

The G-90 came out more universal, and was the first of the G series to have many configurations for every taste, task, and budget.

But in general, the G-90 acquired a more recent design, a CD radio in some trim levels, independent front suspension, a new V8- “LP-8 F2” in 1 configuration, and improved T-6 2(FA) and HG-6 303 ( FA).

And there were as many as 4 configurations:

BASE-It was distinguished by particularly poor equipment, the absence of wood, chrome, foglights, CD-radio, spare tire, automatic transmission, v8 and even v6, good off-road tires, panoramic sunroofs… The absence of a lot, but. It was simply cheap, and was the most ordinary cheap SUV with a manual transmission and all-wheel drive.

OFF-ROAD-bundlingt with high ground clearance of more than 500mm, large wheels with good off-road tires, manual transmission with all locks and low gears, natural wood in the cabin, panoramic sunroofs, spare wheel, CD radio, fog lights.

LUXE-Simply a rich universal package with an automatic transmission, with the same rich equipment as the previous one, but no longer having manual locks, manual transmission, low gears, large off-road tires. It was particularly distinguished by the abundance of chromium.

SPORT-The same as Luxe but in a black package, in a sports body kit, with downforce, universal tires on 19 alloy wheels for asphalt, a powerful new v8 “LP-8 F2”, he was the fastest and most powerful, at the same time less versatile, was designed primarily for Roads.

However, due to its power, it sometimes performed well, and off-road.

There was also an interesting point that the instrument panels were the same everywhere, and were marked up to 220 km/h and 6,000 rpm, although most trim levels could not show such results, but the sport could have turned all the hands 180 degrees.

But still, in the end, the cheapest, most stripped-down, basic configuration was in greatest demand, followed by OFF-Road, Luxe, and as it turned out, the one with the least demand, including perhaps for the price, sport.

But in the end, the G-90 was produced until 2002… Although it was less successful and profitable than 80. But was exported to many countries, and came in many versions.

The S-200 GTR is a bold experiment from RAVON, the first sports passenger car, which is actually a sports sedan, but shortened rear doors, and the silhouette is more reminiscent of a sports coupe, moreover, with a “targa” roof.

However, the company needed the S-200 not only for the sake of interest, but in order to test on it all the technologies it had studied, the new “HG-6 203” engine, a new line of turbo 2-liter V6s using the DOHC system.
And collect everything available into an interesting sports car, a drivable, fast car that gives emotions.
That’s what the S200 was.

In addition, despite the fact that this is primarily a car for young people, a fast car for fast driving, it still formally had 4 doors and 4 seats, and the rear seats were quite comfortable and spacious.

And without any problems, the car could be used as a family car, but purely in the realities of the city, with good roads, the car was already poorly suited for off-road, although the ground clearance allowed it to pass certain obstacles, and there was some all-wheel drive, but it did not help in the off-road .

After all, all-wheel drive was formal in off-road conditions; if the rear wheels get stuck in the mud, the car will simply transfer all the power to the front axle, which in this case will help little.

That is, yes, the s-200 had a plug-in all-wheel drive, that is, this meant that most of the time the s-200 had RWD drive, but when turning sharply, when the rear differential works, or when one of the rear wheels begins to slip, the s- 200 begins to engage the front axle, straightening the car.

In addition, the car had electronic stabilization and steering assistance; in total, 3 modes were available:

Comfort-Basic mode, which choked the car quite strongly at the slightest slipping of the wheels, was suitable for leisurely driving, inexperienced drivers, and for family trips.

Sport is a more aggressive mode, now the ECU does not immediately interfere with power control, but allows the all-wheel drive system and the driver to work.

Off-Completely disabled control assistance, the ECU no longer interferes with control and does not try to help, but the car was still not dangerous and was completely under control, the all-wheel drive system did not allow it to lose control in a skid in any case, any skidding was still under control.

And this was the whole S-200, it could be moderately aggressive, truly fast, but at the same time, even with the stabilization system disabled was not a threat, for the experienced driver.

According to the dynamic characteristics, the s-200 reached the first 100 km/h on average in exactly 6 seconds, and could reach about 220 km/h on the autobahn and remain controllable.

That’s why many buyers around the world fell in love with it, and sales continued until 2002, in only 1 configuration, with a manual transmission, and with 1 engine, since it was still an experiment.

And now the time has come for a new generation of RESTRAINT, the 2nd generation of which ceased its large-scale production in 1985, although it still continued to actively travel around many countries, mainly in “GASMEA”, and was actively in demand in the used car market, of course the models of the 84-85s were especially expensive, which were the freshest and with minimal mileage.

But the 3rd generation never came out in the 80s, since company was focused on the SUV market, and were busy producing the widespread, profitable G-80.

But by the beginning of the 199s, the company finally thought about reviving RESTRAINT; conceptually, nothing much should have changed; it was still a large comfortable sedan.

But then RAVON decided to make the new RESTRAINT more widespread and universal, therefore, initially not only sedan bodies were planned, but also a couple of others.

And by 1993 they introduced the 3rd generation, which came in 3 bodies, 2 trim levels, with 2 types of drive.

    • A sedan that came in both the basic and luxury configurations.
    • Station wagon, also came in basic and luxury configurations.
    • And finally, a pickup truck, UTE, which was, however, only in luxury, but was in the highest demand.

What was the difference between the basic and deluxe versions?

The basic one had a full antichrome package, a black and gray fabric interior, wood was replaced with plastic, a CD radio has been replaced cassette radio, no air suspension, exclusively classic springs and shock absorbers, no sunroofs, and a v6 engine from the recently released G-90 SUV.

At the same time, the luxury had an abundance of chrome, a CD radio, air suspension, panoramic sunroofs, an interior with red velor inserts with an abundance of expensive natural leather, wood, heated seats, and of course… The new generation V8 “HP-8”, DOHC V8 series with multipoint injection, new environmental standards, and efficiency.

By the way, the HP-8 consumed less fuel than the SOHC v6 HG-6 303 FA.

It is also worth mentioning that the station wagon and pickup truck already had all-wheel drive, and the sedan was exclusively rear-wheel drive.

But all builds and bodies had exclusively a 4-speed automatic transmission, albeit different ones, for the v8 RWD there was one, for the V8 AWD there were 2 others, with different gear ratios, for the V6 as well.

As a result, the 3rd generation was even more successful than the 2nd and was in sufficient demand, especially the pickup truck, a luxury comfortable UTE with all-wheel drive.

As a result, the 3rd generation officially ceased its production only in 2005.

And 3rd generation marked the end of the RESTRAINT model range, and 3rd generation was the first and last to have all-wheel drive…

And now the beginning of a new, 21st century, and the latest generation of G-SERIES, 100, came to replace the RAVON G-90 in 2002, after RAVON decided to reboot and start producing something radically different, both in terms of design and technically.

And the G-100, in fact, was the first step towards this, it already had a fairly well-developed design, in comparison with the G-90, much fresher and less archaic, it no longer resembled a grandfather’s sideboard on wheels, it was already in the spirit of the times , although there was nothing surprising about it, as they say “simple, but stylish.”

The G-100 was already aimed at a younger, in a stylish jacket and a crimson shirt…

which works as a manageror, or running a large company. Moreover, the LUXE package could get to a job or interview quickly, you will never be late for an important meeting with the new generation v8 “hp-8” under the hood, 291 horsepower with permanent all-wheel drive will quickly take you to your destination, and automatic transmission, soft seats with heating, and advanced multimedia, climate system will give you more comfort…

However, for those who did not want to pay about 35,000 for a comfortable suv with a v8, they could pay a little less for the BASE package: Which was 10,000 cheaper, but did not have most of the amenities, such as soft heated seats, panoramic sunroofs, advanced multimedia,19 inch sports alloy wheels, advanced climate system…

And no V8, although under the hood there was still not an inline 4 engine, but a completely new V6 “hp-6” with 196 hp, which, however, is still not so little…

As a result, although the G-100 was in demand, Many still wanted more off-road capability, and a slightly lower price point, but the G-100 was more likely for young executives in ties than for hard workers who need to drive off-road every day.

AVRURA-premium Liftback of the new generation!
A universal, comfortable car for all occasions, a premium car for comfortable city and even country driving, for trips to the store, for trips with children to school, for transporting seedlings to the country, for business trips to the business center.

But when needed, ready to leap from the spot, and quickly reach its destination.

This is the basic GT package, a comfortable universal Liftback.

Possessing a new modified V8 “HP-8 BI TURBO ECO BUST”, this 4.0 bi-turbo V8 produces about 453 hp, which is quite enough for the basic version, and covers all tasks, with AWD drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission, it gives more comfort and versatility.

You can easily accelerate to 100Km/H in less than 4 seconds, in sport mode, on good asphalt, and without any problems go to the dacha over rough terrain, because all-wheel drive and ground clearance comparable to a CUV allow you to do this.

And the multi-link air suspension will hold up well in corners and provide even more comfort…

Together with advanced multimedia, climate system, heated leather seats, and a panoramic roof.

But there was another configuration that was made to order, this is HEMI.
HEMI- “HP-8 HEMI 5.5” under the hood, producing no longer a joke 650Hp and1000H.M, at all 4 wheels, and if desired, only on the rear ones, for more drive and adrenaline!

Also, in addition to appearance, body kits, HEMI was distinguished by a stiffer sports suspension, 20” alloy sports wheels on low-profile tires, minimal ground clearance, and a robotic gearbox with 2 clutches for instant shifting, and more developed aerodynamics!

As a result, the HEMI not only held better in corners (on all-wheel drive), but was also potentially much faster, because taking control of the car completely, on a race track, or on a Drag Race track, it could accelerate to 100 in 3 seconds, and develop over 300Km/H…

But this was a rather rare configuration, not in such demand, so it was made to order.

But AVRURA in its basic version was quite in demand and was produced until the closure of the RAVON company in 2018.
