how do you check downforce at that speed?

On the aero tab it should show you an arc for the front and rear downforce, the graph shows how much downforce at what speed :+1:

i know, i just thought you had a more precise way of checking

Are not specified advanced trim settings allowed?

I reckon so, I can’t see any of the other advanced trims being very exploitable? The suspension height one possibly but that’s not really going to matter because comfort isn’t a factor, and the suspension is likely to be low as it can for sportiness gain as well as roll angle and so on.

What a fantastic excuse for me to make this into an automation car!

I have updated the rules slightly over the recent days: The ease of drivability rule has been dropped for just plain drivability to be implemented (keep it simple), I have added realism to 4 :star:, and moved design/styling to 5 :star: (considering there is a full month for engineering and design to help balance it), and hard limit for the width.

Sorry for all the questions, it’s been quite some time since I participated in a challenge here.

Just to be sure: is this combined over front and rear or a limit per side?

Also not sure if there’s any other way of checking this, apart from just pinpointing 100mph (so 161km/h) in the aero graph and reading the downforce?

I assume the quality sliders are allowed to be fiddled with? Or is that the same as tech pool?

I didn’t actually think that deeply about the first point, I’d assume the Chaparral at least only has the aero maximum on the rear, I’ll go with it being 115kg is the maximum for both sides combined as it doesn’t make much sense having 200kg downforce on both ends for this time period :ok_hand:

Quality sliders are not in the ruleset so they’re free to use as you see fit, but expect excess use of them to see a bin as per any challenge would :smile: (Aka don’t do a +15 spam)

Vorstentelg MPB-034b

Meet the Vorstentelg MPB-034b! Vorstentelg is a Dutch passenger car brand. The name means “monarch’s scion/descendant” in Dutch. As it’s founder claims to be a descendant of Karel van Gelre, the Duke of Guelders. MPB stands for Middenmotor Prototype voor Betrouwbaarheidsraces, which translates to: mid engined prototype for endurance racing.

Vorstentelg has a long history of racing in different classes. The MPB-034 is an evolution of the sub-2 liter class Vorstentelg MPB-022, powered by an 1996cc inline 6. The Vorstentelg engineers wanted to get more out of the car, but were hitting the limits of the length of the engine. And so the radical decision was made to design a V12 engine with as much as the design and components of the inline 6 intact. The DZ40 was born, where DZ stands for DubbelZes (translated double-six) and the 40 for a 4.0 liter capacity. After some engineering, upgrading the fuel system from carburettors to injection and a lot of test work on the racetrack in the dunes of Zandvoort, the Vorstentelg engineers managed to tune this engine to just over 500hp, with a redline close to a 10.000rpm. With a lot of work on aerodynamics they managed to achieve a top speed of around 300km/h with this relatively heavy and large race car.

The Vorstentelg MPB-034b is painted in the national Dutch colour: orange! This chassis has been registered at the Rijksdienst voor het Wegverkeer (the Dutch DMV) under license plate number 03-40-VT. Because of this the Vorstentelg engineers are able to drive the MPB-034b from the headquarters to the Zandvoort track without the need of a transport vehicle. With all test equipment jammed into a company car with trailer. And if multiple day tests are required another one or two company cars hauling Kip caravans would be added to the engineering department’s motor pool, true Dutch style! This gives the engineers quite some freedom in testing. It also means the Dutch public sometimes see a bright orange race car flashing by on it’s way to Zandvoort and back to the headquarters accompanied by the roaring soundtrack of a V12. Often followed by one or a few Vorstentelg station wagons. After just a few weeks of this, the car came to be known as “De Vliegende Wortel” (translated: “the flying carrot”) by the local public.

So im working on a car for this and was wondering 7.7L 16 cylinder would that be considered over kill

when it comes to large engines in 67 there isnt anything there apart from the Americans that did that, ofc ford did but chevy had a 7L corvette and and the chaparral had that same engine. but when it comes to V16 nothing really was made in the 60’s for a V16 but there was a H16 from a F1 car back in 1960, but from anything both concept and race cars there wasnt really anything. so from a realism stand point anything with 16 cylinders isnt something your gonna see at all, something that is that large is only really done with ford and chevy and combining both is very unrealistic for a race car being super super large but thats the boring stuff

is it something that could be made during that point, yes. just because no on did it doesnt mean you can do it so knowing that they did make a V16 at that point means yea

alittle more yap you dont need to read into but porsche made that “V12” engine for the 917 but because Porsche didn’t have the tech to make that crank and cam strong enough for that length they just took 2 flat 6’s and connected them in the middle so instead of the transmission being conned to the back of the engine it connects that the middle section of the engine


you can see where it connects right down the middle, im mentioning this since some companies did goofy things to build the engine they wanted.

Ok i wasn’t entirely sure i know the US had some larger engines and there were some engines with quite a few cylinders so im just combining both i suppose.
But basically i entered the Mille monte that Der Bayer put on with a V16 luxury sport brand so im trying to continue the trend with this one just bigger and badder

Actually for me at least im going all out on this car even trying a custom Space frame and a full interior. Still have issues with the animated props though ill get there eventually

yea that was instead of the taking the flat 6 they used their flat 8’s from the F1 cars and stuck them together the same way they did for the flat 12
