Oil Crisis Sports-car 1975 - The oil crisis has took its toll on the sports-car industry as new regulations means low emissions while the market demand efficiency and pace… This can be achieved by making this engine swift and lightweight. (No race headers size limit 3800cc and emissions -950)
Supercar 2020 - Exotic, powerful, high tech and on the borderline of ridiculous, but attaching a multi-million price-tag means this engine must be as stunning and high performance as possible (Everything allowed)
I’ve got a couple ideas myself…
1981 Presidential Limousine (IN)
With the Cold War turning hot, the recently elected US President demands an all-new nuclear hardened limo. Weighing more than a city bus, it needs an engine with stump-pulling torque and Swiss watch reliability. With the fate of the free world possibly at stake, the Secret Service grants you a budget that’s “appropriately generous”.
1970 Italian Supercar
You’re a farm equipment tycoon with a dream: To make the finest high performance automobiles in the world. (Actually, your goal is too make those goons in Maranello look like idiots, but don’t tell anyone that.) Your first car had better capture the world’s attention with a unparalleled combination of power, noise, and poise.
2009 Indian Subcompact (IN)
Cheap, cheap, cheap. Did we mention cheap? The world’s least expensive car must provide mobility to a family of thirteen while meeting modern emissions and fuel economy standards.
1992 Japanese Sports Car (IN)
Banzai! Demonstrate your technical prowess to the world with a state-of-the-art halo vehicle. The car should be quick, but be careful not to exceed the 276 horsepower “gentleman’s agreement” by too much. It must also be fuel efficient and reliable, just like the rest of your lineup.
AND to complete the season…
The Hippy mobile 1950 - The summertime is coming and so is the demand for a cheap reliable camper-van. This engine must go from A to B without fuss (No race headers or V8s)
FIA GT1 2011 - This race engine should rev higher than you could imagine… Especially with some of the most renowned manufacturers in the world!
Since people were starting posting suggestions in other thread where they don’t really belong. So I moved them over here, where they will be easier to find.
I have a couple racing themes:
Japanese GT Championship 2000 GT500 (Now known as Super GT)
The engine is limited to 500 HP so it’s all about the torque. However it is a racing engine so it needs to be light and fuel economy is critical. No exotic materials allowed.
Group C 24 hours of Le Mans (1985)
This is a tough challenge, you need to most performance that you can get but your limited to a certain amount of fuel for the whole race. Mileage is a must to finish the race but Le Mans has the 3 mile Mulsanne Straight and the average lap speed is over 150 mph with top speeds near 250 mph. you need all the HP you can get. as usual for a racing engine weight is key but it also must be durable to finish the race.

1947 Noblesse Oblige Survival
The second world war is over and your country is cleaning up the rubbles of the air bombing runs. The military orders are stopped and your factory need to reconvert to civil market very quickly, but these days aren’t the best for your pre-war era great selling V8 Luxury Laundlet. Your company is confident that a reliable “all-arounder” car will be the key to survive this crucial time in history. The chassis is ready and different bodies are already under development. You need to design a sturdy engine capable to power taxis, ambulance, small vans and family saloon.
1954 BubbleCar Crisis (IN)
Three-wheelers and bubble cars are sprouting everywhere. According to your boss “Those aren’t real cars” and so he forced the chief engineer to work overnight in order to find a solution against those aberrations. A month later, the chief engineer came up with a stunningly smart and small good looking car. Everyone loves it and they are sure it is going to be a great hit, but the big problem is that now it’s your turn to work overnight in order to find a solution to squeeze an engine under such a ridiculously tiny bonnet.
1988 Hypercar
Ferrari have just released the F40, the first car ever to crack 200 mph. It’s your turn to design an engine that can take on the prancing horse and fit a small, light-weight and trans-axle supercar without ruining its power/weight ratio or weight distribution.

1955 British Roadster (IN, modified)
Grab your tweed jacket and tobacco pipe! This featherweight sports car needs a low mass engine with just enough oomph to tackle winding back roads. Reliability is optional.
1984 Lil’French GTI
In order to create a Group B Rallycar, you need to launch a small sports car, like the Peugeot 205 GTI or the Renault 5 Turbo that you have to produce (and sell) at 200 units, no more, no less.
But you have some guidelines to follow. You have to choose between a lesser than 2500cc NA engine or a lesser than 1785cc TC engine. Hard choice isn’t it ?
Remember, you are not creating a race motor but a street capable version of it, so power is needed, but MTBF is still quite important or your customers will be really angry.
- No race Headers, No Race exhausts
- 1785 cc max for TC Engines
- 2500 cc max for NA Engines
- Car weight : 890 kg
- MTBF > 40kkm
- Super leaded
2014 Le Mans LMP2
A Small racing team asked you to create a new engine in order to participate at the famous " 24 heures du Mans".
The rules let you 2 options : a 5000 cm² NA engine with 6 or 8 cylinders, or a 3200 cm² 6cyl turbocharged engine. You are not allowed to put 5 valves per cylinder. VVL is also prohibited.
In the full Race event, you are expected to run about 550 laps. Each lap is 13.6 km long. Reliability, Economy and weight are the keys. And remember, it’s a small team, they don’t have a lot of money

- 4 valves per cylinder max
- Ultimate Unleaded (100)
The Mule : 1988
Making engines for everyday cars is quite easy, but what about an engine for an everyday van, like the Mercedes Sprinter, the Citroën C35 or the Ford Transit ?
Those vans can carry a lot of stuff (about 1900 kg) and they are quite heavy (Around 1400 kg W/O engine). Your typical customer is a company who runs about 50kkm every year with each vehicle. So you need to make a cheap engine, with low services costs, a high MTBF and a low consumption. Oh, it alsos needs A LOT of torque.
- No CNC/ Forge
- No Race Headers / Exhausts
- Regular unleaded (91.0)
- Cast Iron Block and head
1993: The Train Follower
Your bike company has been receiving complains for last year that all some people had to do was follow the damn train and your bike made it impossible. This year, you’re making a new dirtbike and are going to fix that error. Make sure the engine is small enough to fit and is able to keep up with any rail vehicles, even if some fatass guy weighing as much as the bike itself is the passenger.
Can you make them demo compatible? Because i use the demo version
Well, you can always go for an I4.
They always are demo compatible… but for the full experience, and the upcoming Themed CAR challenges, I do recommend having the full game.
Also… a 1975 Luxury Car cannot be made really demo compatible, I mean I4s are not really luxurious. It works, but sucks.
Heck you should have the full game anyways!

Main FSO engineers came to idea to make relatively cheap sports car. When almost everything has been done, they found out that engine is too costly and not powerful enough. Because everybody else was working, you has been chosen to project new engine, remember it must be small, cheap and efficient.

Actually, I was not that raged out, since I got lucky and jumped on the train and just shoot them as CJ - this was more inspired by my pals rage. Also, you did not rage me out - watch the way you construct sentences.

I don’t think this theme would be possible with the current version of the game - the main limitation is the height - only a boxer would be an appropiate engine.
