@DeusExMackia, we watched out and had to make 5 extra pit stops to make it interesting! :smiling_imp:

Interesting. Our vans seem to require a surprising amount of repairs… Note to Self: Double and triple check reliability. Also looks like there may be room for improvement by modifying power outputs, if possible. On the positive side, it appears that the self-driving van does seem to hold its own on the track. No connectivity issues, just not fast. Triple redundancy on the sensors has given it plenty of backups to work with.

Also appears that 2 has an advantage over 1, so I’ll need to look into that and test to see what the advantage really is.

I can’t remember if we wen’t through this… Repairs are caused by lack of reliability (mechanical failure) or driveability (minor accidents)?

Classic Mini succeeds in endurance  Good, I was worried about endurance races being AMWEC15 all over again.
Yomama is definitely in need for some improvements… maybe softer rubber, so it can kick UnFin’s rear :imp:

be careful with that rubber. one wrong move and instead of losing a live, you could make a live :stuck_out_tongue:

@TR8R Ooooh! That is a vicious comment!

repairs are minor accidents that are bad enough to requir repair

Here are the retune rules:

Just to get this out of the way the deadline for the re-tune is in 3 weeks time, 4th of july 5:00pm (17:00) NZT

When making your retune make a new trim (and engine varriant if you are planning on editing the engine) and follow this new better naming format for it: Retune-(Van name). the van name must match the name you see on the results.

you cannot change anything in the model tabs

other than that all of these rules apply:

if you have any questions just ask

Can we build a new engine or only build a new variant?

no sorry you can’t build a new engine family only new variants

I think I can work with that. Might be difficult to make things faster, but I’ll have to thrash on the two vans, see what I can do.

I’m honestly not sure what I’ll do yet. I’d definitely looking for faster times in general given the van’s plenty frugal enough as is…

A hushed discussion could be overheard from the parking lot, between Luke and the driver of the pale-blue van.

“Perhaps, you might consider, you know, swapping the internals, Luke?”
“We’re not allowed to touch the exterior of the vans, Jim. You know that.”
“I don’t care if the badges are wrong. I just want to win one.”
“We’ll bring 'em into the shop and see if, and I do mean if, it’s a feasible task.”
“I think someone’s staring at us.”
“Well, I told you that if you needed to bring something up, a more covert method would have been a text message, but no, you insisted on using possibly the least secure method of communication, blindsiding me in the parking lot.”
“So what do we do?”
“Seeing as we’re playing fair, Jim, we do nothing. I’ll do some simulations and see what can be done.”

and the same scene again. 2nd place in qual while being squished by @airjordan

and then i’m gonna flop the actual race.

I’m not too worried. Sure, I’m not doing all that great, but there is a plan in the works.

Luke, on the other hand, has probably made the pit lane a mess, given the results of the qualifying. Storm Automotive’s chief mechanic, John White, was seen walking to the bathrooms wearing the contents of a tuna sandwich. And there might be video of the event because we’re pretty sure a media team was interested in interviewing the current top-three championship drivers, and Luke’s little altercation happened while they were preparing for the event. Specifically, Luke’s exact words were, “I didn’t pay you this much to make two vans, both of which routinely finish poorly! I paid you to make two racing vans, vans that should be able to compete, not finish an hour behind everyone else.” When John went to reply, Luke picked up a nearby tuna sandwich, rumored to be his team driver’s lunch, and threw it in John’s face, then demanded a solution to the problem.

(Yes, Luke has a temper issue. Once he’s riled up, and it does take quite a bit to do, his temper’s explosive. And in this case, his chief mechanic caught the worst of it. Not because the vans are bad, but because Luke doesn’t like losing, and after reviewing the championship standings, he’s realized there’s only one van that’s gained less points than his two. Plus, there’s a good chance the driver of Van 1 won’t escape Luke’s wrath if he loses this one.)

(Also, don’t worry about these posts if you’re not interested in how this fits in with Storm Automotive’s story. I’m doing these to remind myself down the road when I get around to updating my own thread after SGTV completes, so that I can do a full aftermath and situation update. After all, incidents like the one above won’t be forgotten, there’s a whole thing based on whether or not the self-driving van technology plays out (as accidents may result in it being deemed ‘not safe enough for the public’ and thereby a technology that ends up shelved), and depending on how well the vans do in general, there will either be a boost or fall in van and SUV sales.)

Dammit! Chuckles are practically teasing us now! @TR8R
