[size=150]After the raging success of the 1983 Hercules 1500, SimMotors and their runing department Sim Tech Racing Line are going global!

What started out as an experiment with the Hercules, already became car design history. critics called the design of the Hercules being too much “70’s” for the year 1983, but the people decided differently.

A timeless design, compared with the latest technology and safety features sold 1 Million cars within one year, in Europe alone.[/size]

[size=150]Here the stats for the Hercules 1500, the focus was put on the comfort and the car was very ecnonomical at the time, when people became more and more sensitive about gas prices.

Sim Motors will continue working on a whole range or cars, for every need. While SimTech Racing Line is open for tuning requests, to turn the finest cars into even finer tuned cars.[/size]

[size=150]In 1985, two years after the Hercules hit the market, Sim Tech Racing introduced the Hercules Type R6. The six stands for the newly developed six cylinder engine, which produced roughly 190 bhp.[/size]

[size=150]Of course the main goal while developing the R6 was to make it fun to drive. The six cylinder engine and the good suspension helped with this.

The path was set, in January 1986, the Type R6 participated in the last year of the Group B Rallye Monte Carlo, driven by the younger brother of the companie’s owner, Stephen. Much to the surprise of the press, the in comparison underpowered Type R6 stayed out of trouble and managed a respectable 6th place. A legend was born.[/size]

[size=150]After three years of silence, Sim Motors came out with a new model and a new concept for the year 1989: FWD.

With the chance of West- and East-Germany being united again, a new market promised new customers to conquer. While many people from socialistic East-Germany dreamed of owning a Hercules 1500, the time seemed right to release the Ion.

[size=150]In early 1990, the Ion was officially introduced in Berlin and soon two things about the Ion 1.6 became apparent: 1. It’s economical. 2. The brakes are not up to Sim Motors standard.[/size]

[size=150]Also, the 96 hp engine was not thirsty at all, but Sim Motors, who became known for their passion about motorsport, let down many fans of their former cars. Due to the new market being opened in East-Germany, the sales did go up. Yet, the expectations of Sim Motors chief designer Simon “VroomVroom” were not met. “Too practical, no fun to drive”, was his comment after the introduction. He later stated that he never meant to make it sound like he was not a fan of the car he designed himself, after all, only that the new direction of the company should be at least questioned.[/size]

[size=150]In September 1990, Sim Motors introduced the Ion M.
The wagon was meant to be used as a “multifunctional” vehicle, which was aimed mainly at people who needed more space than the Ion 1.6 could offer.[/size]

[size=150]At the same time, Sim Motors paid a great deal of attention on improving the brakes and offering an engine that could be economical and fun to drive, if needed. For this purpose, a new 1.8l 20 Valve engine was developed.[/size]

[size=150]The IAA is known for hosting many exciting cars. SimTech Racing introduced a concept for a fast coupè for the 1993 IAA in Frankfurt/Main.

[size=150]Having had the Ion on the market, the question arised: Where is SimMotors headed? How do we define the future of cars?

One of the many possible answers can be seen here in form of this concept study, the Centauri. While being smaller than the Ion M, it offers nearly the same space for all of its passengers resulting in a comfortable multivan.[/size]

[size=150]Exciting news from SimTech! What began as a study for a coupè in 1992 is soon going to be available! Sim Motors and SimTech have decided to redesign and build the car that is referred to as “Athleta”. Our first car with a complete polymer chassis, mounted with a newly developed 1.9l i4 engine, bringing 163 bhp via 205 mm tyres and leightweight aluminium rims on the road. With the overall weight of the car being below 980 kg, this combination promises a lot of sportiness.[/size]

[size=150]At the same time, the Athleta proves to be very economic, using only 7,5 litres of fuel on average. We’ve achieved this by building a modern engine made of new lightweight materials, using an intelligent variable valve timing to get optimised power output combined with reasonable economy.[/size]

[size=150]We’re shifting gears with the five gear transmission and double clutch, reaching 100 km/h in 6,5 seconds, reaching 235 km/h ultimately.
