SPC02: 1995 Fruinia Auto Show | Rules Deliberation

If I engineer a car during the rules deliberation period, and then the rules change, that’s 100% on me. Not on the host. Wait for the finalized ruleset or potentially take the L.

Right, so, it’s an auto show but it’s also a challenge? I think this just unnecessarily complicates things. In an auto show the stats aren’t really taken into consideration, and there is no specific buyer. In a challenge there is a buyer, and the car is made for the buyer. Or maybe I am overthinking this, don’t know.

What I don’t understand is, why are V10 diesels allowed in a family car challenge…? Sure there was VW with their V10 SUV madness but I wouldn’t call that a family car. Usually a family car has inline 4, or perhaps even V6 engine. They’re reliable, spacious, good on gas and relatively affordable. A V10 diesel is none of those.

See, that’s what I was asking about - that’s not the way I do it. That’s why it’s important to clarify the rules.

I know that I’m borderline nitpicking, but if they need to ask for financial support from relatives, shouldn’t price be at least two star priority? The less they have to borrow (or to receive if they’re not borrowing?) the better.

Are there any bonus points for fitting more than 5 seats in the car? Making practicality a priority would probably encourage people to make 3-row cars (or minivans). It only takes 3 seconds and boom! Annie is pregnant with triplets. And according to my calculations, 6 people don’t fit in a 5 seat wagon :stuck_out_tongue:

Which WES number are we aiming for?

Sorry all for the radio silence from me, school has started up in my area, and I basically need coffee every day now. (I have barely enough time for this…)
I’ll try to get some specifics down in the following weeks, but only on the weekends so that I don’t tire myself out. Thank you for understanding!

It’s been nearly 2 weeks since the last update - but we don’t know when this round will finally start up (and finish), so I’ll hold off on my proposed SPC2 submission for now.

This challenge will be closed. I can’t find a good time to elaborate upon this, so I’ll probably relegate me hosting this to the summertime. If anybody would like to, they can host SPC02 and make it have a different end goal if they so desire. Sorry for this, once again. I hope you have fun in other challenges.

I actually take this back. The challenge will not be cancelled, and I will try my best to get this up and running as soon as possible. If you have any suggestions, I am opening the floodgates for those, so get talking.

It’s nice to hear that you’re still committed to hosting this challenge - for now. But I have a few suggestions if you really want to make it work as well as you want it to:

  • You could stick to the original rule set, but with a few changes: First off, you might want to make overall running costs (fuel consumption + service costs) a 3-star (i.e., major) criterion.

  • Durability (reliability + environmental resistance), meanwhile, could be a 2-star (i.e., moderate-priority) criterion.

  • And I’d also consider lumping prestige in with sportiness as a 1-star (i.e., minor) criterion that I’d call “wow factor”.

Oh, and a few more things: both those fuel types you mentioned (regular 91RON/87AKI and premium 95RON/91AKI) are unleaded, and the minimum emissions target for Gasmea ought to be WES 7, for the sake of clarity.

If, however, you are unable to ensure that you can successfully host SPC02, I am interested in taking over, and am currently capable of doing so since it will not add too much to my existing workload, even after taking my hosting duties for CW7 into account.
