Spec Power Unit Challenge

so, having seen a lot of different challenges, i thought i’d throw my own into the ring.

the challenge is to build a car that can go as fast as possible within set regulations, but everyone has the same spec engine.

i will do multiple rounds if it’s successful, but for the pilot round: Superbike POWAH!!!

so for this round, you have to build a racer that can go as fast as possible around the ATT with a sub 1 liter bike engine.

the rules:

Model year of 2016

NO AWD/4x4

NO Active/Semi Active anything

NO Semi Slicks

NO Negative Quality Sliders

MAX Quality +6

MAX Tyre Width of 225

MUST fit a 74.0 x 56.0 engine

MUST have over 100kj/s of cooling.

a few hints:

there is no budget limit, but do be mindful of cost as i will factor it in to the ratings of the cars (i will subtract the cost of the engine from the total cost of the car)

i will also rate the cars on how they drive, so you may have the fastest car on paper, but if it’s undrivable, it’s probably not gonna win

comfort is not a problem (it’s a racer for pete’s sake), but saftey is. so don’t make a total deathtrap.

here is the engine to use (disregard the car, i can’t export the engines on their own)

MaxwellQ - SPUC.zip (90.9 KB)

Points will be awarded for the top 5 in: Fastest lap/Best Driveability/Best Sportiness/Lowest Cost/Best Safety

PM me the .zip files and the naming convention will be:

Model Name - SPUC - Username

Trim Name - Your Car

Deadline will be the 15th

i hope this challenge will be a decent one, so happy building!

  1. I like the concept
  2. I think it would be better if you give us the engine and let us build a car around one. Otherwise gearing and suspension is pure guess game so whoever is luckier wins. Not the point, right.
  3. Total cost in overview tab already excludes engine cost so no need for subtraction
  4. I have bad experiences with hosts only telling approximately how the car will be scored and in what categories. On most successful challenges scoring is defined in advance.

What about mods?
And maybe a naming format for the engine as well just so it’s easier for yourself. Not sure on this one though and in the end it’s only for your own convenience if that at all. (this is potentially really useless advice by me)
The last thing I have is do you have to have headlights and that kind of stuff?

Anyways, this seems like a really fun challenge.

@AirJordan i will alter the rules to allow that, i was in the half mind to do it that way cuz it has an element of difficulty, but i think your right.

@Crailler mods are fine, but if they’re non essentials, run them past me plz

A challenge requiring the use of a control (common) engine? Sounds interesting, but do adaptive dampers count as (semi)active components? And are we not allowed to use an electric LSD? Please explicitly state whether or not these two components can be used.

adaptive is fine, no elec LSD

That’s justified since there is simply not enough power to have to use an electric LSD or more than two driven wheels with the bike engine available to us.

as always count me in
