Steam Relese : Trading Cards

I’d like to ask if we’ll get Trading cards for Automation at steam release. maybe just at a highter arnount of players… ?

Thats simply a yes or no question. im just interested ^^

We’ll try to put some in, yes! We’ve started brainstorming for steam achievements already :stuck_out_tongue:

Will you be taking community suggestions for achievements and trading cards?

If you have good suggestions, sure, why not?

Just a small silly one: Hypercar (make a car with a Sportiness in excess of 100 and Top speed over 300 km/h). Actual values probably shouldn’t be what I just stated, but there’s a starting point!

Name one Swiss Hourwork: Have a car to be able to go over 407km/h (Faster than the Bugatti Veyron)
Or Keep on Going: Have an MTBF of over 80.000 on a productioncar
Or Suck it in: Have a Turbo Aspirated engine with over 2.2 bar

Glued: Have a car with over (X) cornering Gs.

Nailed Down: Have a car with over (X) downforce :stuck_out_tongue:.

And on the other side (since steam has negative achievements)
Oh Dear: You issued your 1st recall
Loser: You lost your number one sales slot to a rival
Ten Foot Barge Pole: You’ve produced a vehicle that no-one bought

Some ideas :

Car of the year : sell a car 500.000 Times
Tiny wannabe Rocket : Make a 75HP 0.4L engine
Knock , knock : Make an engine that starts to knock
Low fat , please ! : Make an engine with a fuel mixture ratio of 15.0:1
Lifted : Revise a car platform

and for trading cards… there could be simple things … like : Sedan , Hatch , V8 , i4… we’ll see

A few ideas more shouldn’t hurt, since you need a lot of cool achievements:

Overpowered: Make a car with over 600hp/ton
Snailcar: Make a car with less than 60hp/ton
Did you put the right tyres on this?: Make a car with less than 0.60g of handling
Stratospheric: Make an N/A engine with over 130hp/liter
World Car: Sell over 10.000.000 units of a car through it’s lifetime
What is comfort? Make a car with over 80 sportiness
Hyper Squeeze: Make an engine with over 14.0:1 compression ratio
Can we place this into a car?: Make an engine weighing over 400kg
Power Juice: Make an engine that runs on 100 octane fuel only
Can it run on potatoes?: Make an engine with a RON requirement under 80

I don’t have any specific suggestions for achievements/trading cards, but I do have some requests for them in general.

The first would be not to put in achievements for incredibly easy to do stuff. Achievements are meant to be earned when you achieve something worthwhile or difficult. Apologies for singling your suggestion out nyancat, but something like ‘revise a car model’ is just far too easy to be worth making an achievement. Changing it to something like ‘sell x number of a car, which is a revision of a car that sold very badly’ would be a lot better, since it requires you to make a major improvement with the revision, rather than just any old revision.

Another suggestion on slightly similar lines is not to put too many achievements in just for playing the game as you normally would. For example, the CoD games have achievements for completing each level on any difficulty. Having a game go ‘well done, you played a level of a game’ is not really what an achievement should be. The achievement for completing the entire game is fair enough because it requires a considerable amount of effort (even if it is quite easy). Also, the achievements for completing each level on the hardest difficulty (whatever it was called) is fair enough because, for everyone except the very best CoD players, those individual levels were incredibly difficult to complete on the hardest difficulty.

The last suggestion is not to make the achievements too much of a grind, especially if there is no in game reward for it. I genuinely cant think of any examples of very grindey achievements in games I’ve played recently, but i’m sure there are some achievements that are truly tedious to get out there somewhere

One such grind-y achievement would be (but IMHO, well worth it, and shows true talent for the game):

Platinum Perfectionist - Have all platinum medals in all scenarios.

That leads to the obvious achievements as well:

Scenario Completionist: Have any medal in all scenarios.
Silver Medalist: Have silver (or better) medals in all scenarios.
Goldfinger: Have gold (or better) medals in all scenarios.

@Reaper , but beginner-achiviements are avaiable at many games. for example : ‘Hello!’ - Start the game the first time. There should be max. 5 beginner-achiviements , that are easy to achieve.

Also a new idea for trading cards that goes to the devs : A contest for trading-card-cars/engines.

for example : the 4 best looking cars and the 4 best engines will be avaiable as trading card.

-> Trading Card : Ryota Australia (with picture) , Automationgame.

The devs should start a contest where the best cars/engines will be choosen as trading cards. This would be actually pretty cool i think

Yes I know. just because they exist doesn’t mean I have to like them.

you dont have to like them

Or: make a car without turbo with 600 cv and a fuel efficiency ≥ 30% and 98 octane fuel.

Having one for starting the game is slightly handy because plenty of people, myself included on occasion, buy cheap games and never play them (mostly in bundles or package deals) so having achievements that are easy to get can be used to see how many people have actually played the game and not just fired it up and then left it running, or never even launched it once.
