I vote for Honda F20C.
The engine from the Honda S2000.
2.0L I4, no turbo, 240hp, 148kg - beat that!
With Turbo and mod’s you can get 700hp out of it.

What if I wanted more mid-range torque?
Anywhoo…

The Toyota 4age 1.6i 20valve
Toyota designed the engine for performance The 4A-GE produced 112 hp (84 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 131 N·m (97 lb·ft) of torque at 4,800 rpm but can be made to produce over 500hp+ engines are very popular with racers and tuners because of their availability, ease of modification, simple design, and lightness. It was extremely light and strong for a production engine using an all-iron block, also available as 16Valve
Toyota 3sge 2.0i 16Valve
Found no the RS200 GROUP B rally car with 330Kw this engine is all iron and very reliable
Mazda FE-DOHC 2.0I 16valve
This robust engine design is a favourite of tuners who are aware of its capability because it already has a high-power capacity perfect for custom turbo jobs. As much as 600 whp on stock form
VW VAG 1.8T 20VALVE
found on the mk4 gti golf has tuning capabilities and huge power out puts!!
Honda H22a Engine
With the displacement of 2.2liter, 4 valve per cylinder and VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) the h22 can go well over 700whp.
Saab B204 and B234 Engines

THIS 2.0L - 2.3L 16valve saab H engine i think has great tuning and power output capabilities and some version come with DIRECT PETROL FUEL INJECTION
Subaru EJ25
http://static.baza.farpost.ru/v/1373611588266_bulletin
This Flat 4 engine found on impreza’s. 2.5 liter engine is capable of over 500whp+ and famous swaps on 911 and VW Beetle’s
Nissan CA18DET Engine
http://www.turbophile.com/feature_cars/drew-datsun-1600-ca18det/ebay-lrg.jpg
This motor is known for stronger torque characteristics, as well as faster spool at lower RPMs. Many tuners are now converting the engine to a CA18DERT, which is the CA18DET with a supercharger bolted on. There was never a factory-produced twin-cam CA 2.0L motor, nor a turbo version. However the blocks are similar, and it is possible to fit the DOHC CA18DE/T twincam head to the SOHC CA20 block. However the DOHC/SOHC manifolds are different and the timing pulley/belts are not compatible. Despite this, CA20DET turbos have been built. BUT I DON’T LIKE IT!!
Nissan E1.5T SOHC
only with a displacement of 1.5L and 8valves the e15E engine will be a Japanese classic for its light and 300whp+ capabilities!

And eating head gaskets for breakfast…
Sorry, the EJ25 isn’t the best Subaru engine. Their reliability track record is sketchy at best. You could make a case for the EJ20T or the EJ22 (the latter is a common swap in VW’s also). Heck I’d even accept arguments for the EA81 or MPFI nonturbo EA82 because of how you can abuse the living crap out of them and they’ll still run (even if they’re not good modding engines).
Mazda 26B Rotary

well i must apologize this engine has 4 rotors not cylinders.
Seriously diqtucs you have posted 12 engines in this thread already. That’s about 11 too many.
