The Car Shopping Round (Round 64): Tears in Heaven

neat.
and very interesting.
there’s 3 car with ‘AWD’? im guessing they stuck with the 4x4?
and an FWD!

and @denta your car is gonna be the buldozer of the round wont it? big, slow, and heavy, but unstoppable, steady and is just gonna breeze through everything.
dat offroad and safety score. O_O

Yes, AWD means 4x4 in this case. I forgot to fix that.

i think i choose wrong body shell here, also for some reason the mini car bodyshell cant fit the Der Bayer engine for some reason and i thought my bodyshell is the same as other which appearently not

This looks like an interesting match up. Lots of similar design choices, a lot of similar budgets. A few odd ones out here and there, but competition is sure to be fierce. Unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of rear-engine cars, also a lot of FR. Couple odd ones, namely the FF and MR in the driveline. Large handful of 4WD, as well. Budgets cover a range from $2254 up to $5249, which is a little surprising, to be honest. Surprisingly large horsepower range, too, from 43 horsepower up to 72 horsepower.

Whoever wins earned it, that’s about all I can honestly say. It’s, for the most part, a close match.

i did the do with the mid rear. as with everything i do for competitions, i wen’t against the grain.

Turns out my car has the lowest servicing costs of all - but I am not sure it will be enough for a decent result since the lack of sportiness is clearly going to be a problem. It is one of the top 3 in terms of off-road capabilities, though. At any rate, I am not sure exactly whom I will put my money on…

@Denta i didn’t realise yours is a fat fuck. i thought mine would be the podger of the round

I’m honestly a bit surprised I was the only one who used Front Wheel Drive thus far… I mean, it’s lighter, and with so little horsepower, it makes your car quicker. It doesn’t affect offroad performance so bad… I’m a bit more surprised at how many people went with hard road tires… Kinda makes me wonder just how much of the test is gonna be offroad based.

Honestly, my reason for choosing hard road tires was based on the fact that they’re not totally garbage for off-road, but they keep the drivability higher than off-road tires.

As for not using FWD… I honestly didn’t think about it. I figured RWD, front engine, small and lightweight body made with less-expensive materials (seriously, aluminum weighed a little more, but it freed up $600+ to use elsewhere compared to Fiberglass), and decent tires would make something competitive.

No matter which way it goes, we’re all very close.

I actually had a Plan B for the Oryx ATX similar to yours (rear-drive and with hard tires) but abandoned it for the sake of improved off-road abilities.

hard or offroad was a hard decision… the hard gave better ATT time. but it just sacrifices so much offroad stats.
and same here. fibreglass wasn’t worth it. no stats really changed except weight.

and FWD… i went with a lore… didn’t have FF by that time. so no FF

Results (Part 1/4)

This is the first part of the results, the rest will follow one by one each day. On the final day I’ll write a few sentences about each car.

The Desirability part gives scores from 0-100 to each car, 100 for the best and 0 for the worst in each category. The rest is linearly interpolated. The weighted scores are added up and give the total score for the desirability category. The other 3 categories are weighted equally to this category.

The leaders are currently Koolkei and Rk38, phale and Darkshine5. But we’ll see how this will change after the affordability evaluation!

Well, shit. Koolkei and rk38 have this in the bag!

NOT LAST HYPE

Awesome I finally made something competitive.

Right now, despite its lack of sportiness I am surprised to find the Oryx ATX not as far behind the leaders as I first feared.

Looks like I managed a pretty average score.

@Madrias Mine is clearly better :stuck_out_tongue:

well. we kinda lucked out… none of us knew that the stats is gonna be weighted :stuck_out_tongue:
or, at least i didn’t

but you’re a really close competitor though.
it’s gonna come down to cost to buy and cost to run.

Well, your car is cheaper and more efficient, and I’m pretty sure it’s faster around the track as well. I spent a lot of money and weight on comfort, safety, and offroad, turns out they were weighted almost nothing :stuck_out_tongue:
