The Car Shopping Round (Round 64): Tears in Heaven

Well that explains the economy despite being older tech and the aluminium panels :joy:

I donā€™t think that car is overpowered. I donā€™t even know what Enry will really want, so, who knows. Being me, I wanted to make a boring 1.4 ecobox, however, there were no good, suitable bodies for 2002 and then this thing caught my eye and I immediately decided to do a 660cc turbo 3-cylinder car on its base, however, as I found out quickly enough, there still arenā€™t turbos in inline 3 engines, so I just made it larger until I got acceptable power, which was 90 hp. But @DoctorNarfy said he had a 300 hp car, so I decided to add a few ponies, which I did, resulting in 110. And that was about it really.
Also, I sincerely donā€™t think these cars will win, pretty sure the winner will be a boring, but somewhat sporty, hatchback.

OFFER: 1996 Matra Wanda SX
PRICE: ā‚¬ 6730 - Non negotiable
DESIGN: CoupƩ, 2 Doors, 2+2 Seats
ENGINE: Petrol, 2.5l V6, Euro4
DRIVETRAIN: RR
DESCRIPTION:
Offering my '96 Wanda. Regularily maintained. 104k km down. Has not let me down. Spritely little car with strong and thrilling V6 engine in the back. Easy on fuel and emissions thanks to SX economy trim. Spacious front boot. Cassette player. Sorry for the poor picture, photographed with a very old smartphone.
CONTACT: Tel.: ā–ˆā–ˆā–ˆā–ˆā–ˆ/ā–ˆā–ˆā–ˆā–ˆā–ˆā–ˆā–ˆ

There has also been a review from ā€œBudget Benzinā€ linked. Some notable quotes state:

Matra took the opportunity to get back to their roots after Renault phased Alpine out of the market during the 90s.
[ā€¦]The Wanda came in two trims, named like her ancestorā€™s as SX and LX, where the LX trim could also be upgraded with the ā€˜aftermarketā€™ Sport package.
[ā€¦]All cars came, at Renaultā€™s acknowledgement, with the infamous yet legendary PRV V6 engines, based on the ZM family and adapting PSAā€™s 4 valve SOHC heads.
[ā€¦]A respectable Euro4 emission rating and good fuel economy could be achieved with the SX, whose engine featured de-bored cylinder liners and pistons with a low-friction finish.
[ā€¦]This makes it one of the last new cars to feature the PRV before the engine went out of production.
[ā€¦]Unlike the predecessors, which featured steel space frames with fibre glass panels for light weight, the Wanda comes in a mix of steel and aluminium, and becomes the first in the line with a galvanised tub as chassis. Since the engine now lays further back to make space for the second row of passengers, the heavier frame is somewhat beneficial for weight distribution, additionally to passenger safety.
The rest is a more in-depth review of the Wanda Sport upgraded LX
[ā€¦]More than the DeLorean was, for less than a Porsche. This little French ship is magic.

Better quality pictures were shown in the review:

Yes, this is supposed to be an homage to the Matra 530 with elements taken from later models like the Matra Murena

Iā€™m having a few problems with missing mods, so iā€™m going to PM those whose car appears to be clearly missing some fixtures.

What you want you want to drive in 2001. Because you as a teen want to feel like the videogame hero, donā€™t you?

Cheap, fun and easy on the fuel.

Enjoy!

BONUS: Who can guess what game this is inspired by?

Gta?

iā€™ll guess its not based on a 2l 250hp car  with something that says X-thing kicked in

Nope

Correct! :tada:

Isā€¦ that NFS: Most Wanted?

EDIT: Do you guys know that game is from 2005? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep. If weā€™re making a car for 2001, then all the people making GT3 photos make no sense as that game was from 1999. Ours is a past car presented in a car later game (ie not an anachronism)ā€¦ but presenting a 2001 car in a game from '99?

ā€¦ facepalms

Anyways, iā€™m checking all the entries, so far quite a few cars have been DQā€™d, looks like i should have made the rules clearerā€¦

Or not, the impression I got was that quite a few users didnā€™t pick up on the hints and decided to go with large displacement power houses anyway :joy:

I got the hint and dialed back the power big time. Then again, I kinda had to because my best option for this was the Storm Adventure, butā€¦ It came in as a touch too expensive. And I wasnā€™t about to gut the AWD from it just to make it fit in, because it wasnā€™t meant to have RWD only.

But I also know that this is one of those cases where I wasnā€™t going for the win, either. Iā€™m in a cool-down phase after my win, where Iā€™m making silly things because I want to make silly things, rather than having to actually be sensible to try to win.

Hence building the Dynamite D4. I set a goal: I6 in the budget, with AWD.

I salute your ambition, at least

I havenā€™t gone stats maxing in a round for a very long time, I just wanted to make something cute that tugged at the heartstrings.
