Mott Works Racing MT400
For Sale: €15,200

This is the homologated version of the Mott Works Racing MT400 GT1 car. The 4L V8 still runs well producing 350hp, far down on the gt1s 750hp, but it still accelerates from 0-60 in just over 4 seconds. I’ve managed to get a low 1:51 when I took it to zolder for a trackday event. Extremely fun car to drive, if not a bit difficult due to the lack of traction control and stability control.

Oh and seeing that entries have closed, I might as well reveal the full stats of the Cierzo

Yet again indecisiveness means no entry. :expressionless:

Tried to Go with a Fast & Reliable Econobox, would take some work to get a 1l I4 Turbo to go fast without overdoing the Quality Sliders (Had Valvetrain Maxed for HP & Economy, would also help Keep Valve float down)

591 engineering and 270 production units? That explains a lot!

EDIT: Here’s something fairly comparable?

Second owner of this car here. Very much a sports car by definition. Drinks a bit much, but every liter is converted into noice noise. Much of a sports car, tested out its speed on the Autobahn when I was in Germany, got me over 250 km/h! Giving it away, because I can’t handle this much sports car (wife says no).

Your Shopping list may include: MOSO high flow intake system with multiple throttle bodies; Bridgefield 255mm wide sports compound tyres, PPS alloy rims; Regeaero bucket race seats; Regeaero steering wheel; Becher Performance straight through muffler (with a shiny double chrome tip); Bremsers race brake pad set; MOSO short throw kit; Blaustrich Bluetooth adapter cassette.
You think about removing the rear bench and some of the interior trim, also benching the spare tyre. Could possibly do some turbocharging in the future!

270hp turns out to be quite a lot for 930kg.

Right, so

THE GATES ARE CLOSED

Well they were since 11 hours ago roughly.

I will now write up the reviews, wrote a few in advance, might need tuesday aswell to finish them all, maybe even wednesday (I hope myself it won’t take that long). The reviews will be written in chronological order according to when the advertisements appeared, so if you haven’t posted yours: hurry. Zolder V1 will be used for the testing as this version was out when the competition began.

Thanks for your patience.

I’ll have my ad up soon, as soon as I stop being sick that is!

Did the mods load properly and the car behave itself this time?

ST trim shown in optional Crimson Sprint Metallic

The NRZ-996 Series II released in 2004 featured a near complete reworking of the design. Due to new safety regulations, the pop-up head lights of the previous design were gone. Instead, a bodywork was sharper, more rigid and improvements and refinements to the engine, transmission and ride and handling. Gone was the limited run turbocharged edition.

Instead, the lineup consisted of the entry-level Touring and ST; all were available with a five-speed manual transmission which had shorter ratios. An optional four-speed automatic was also available. Engine outputs were relatively unchanged and performance remained on par with previous models.

For the Maesima NRZ-996 Series II the focus was on driver enjoyment and feedback. Body rigidity was improved through the addition of structural reinforcements improving safety and achieving a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. This ideal distribution of weight between the front and rear axles means increased driving pleasure.

As always you’ve absolutely killed it man. Twice the power of my car with 60kg less yet only 2 drivability points less. That’s some seriously impressive showing.

You seem to be on a roll with your ads. I love how you gave your entry some styling influences from the RX-8 and MX-5 (specifically, the NB) without ruining the lines of the Series 1 that preceded it - and that car was already a looker to begin with!

Well, funny you should mention that as I’m actually running a bit behind my schedule. Because I didn’t have enough time to get to the standard of the Reveho reveal or even my three image standard I usually strive for but I’m glad the facelift is well received. :slight_smile:

that being said it’s known by some that body is quite OP in terms of sporting and performance stats per value (note that Phale also used it, and that entry above is essentially a rehash of a previous entry). That is to say stat-savvy people tend to use it :wink:

It sure did, I really had to download some mods to get everyone’s cars work this time, seems like I’m behind times :joy:

Sorry for double posting, buuuut:
Part 1 of ?3? reviews
Seems like combining hosting CSR while combatting an university deadline doesn’t mix well, seems like I’ll definitely need tuesday and maybe even wednesday, sorry guys! But here’s part 1 of the reviews…

Note: As I mentioned in the post, the “MOD” spec is suggestive, and I have changed a few things that benefit the competition, like fitting semi-slicks where lacking, but also cuts where it exceeded the budget.
Also, semi-slicks are very legal in Belgium, so often I’ll be swapping these on at free cost since I assume that there’s a good chance tyres would need to be replaced (soon) anyhow.

@Conan: Corko Onni 1.6 Mk.1

Price now: 1,095 euros

The one and only, the legend, the Onni! The budget trackday hero. Noone can hate that tiny free revving car (except the ones unsure of their sexuality). It is far under budget though, probably I could get a lot more car. But look at the remaining 13,900 budget. The reliability was good for its age, 57.6 engine and 70.6 average. fixing her up, and working away some rusty sill- wait, corrosion resistant steel? Nevermind the sills, probably just 2000 to whip her back into a mechanically great condition. Stock it’s a fun car with the top down and weighing barely more than a tonne, but its 90 hp engine does make it slow, like, 2:22 around Zolder slow. There’s nearly 11k left to whip that up though, so we can do things, like turbocharging-the-living-f*ck out of that poor engine-with-new-camshafts-and-pistons things, and coilovers, doing about 2:02 on sports and nearly cracking the 2 minute barrier with semi slicks.
Even modified the engine is pretty economical due to being only 1.6L with 9.55L/100km and alright high rpm efficiency. Interesting, but perhaps a tad stereotypical. Trackday Bro. Headlights go up, headlights go down.
abg7: Zorg ZS36 Coupe
Price now: 14,760 euros

What a lovely i6, what a lovely car an FR 282 hp 1235 kg coupe, sure sounds promising, and the torque graph for the high end is borderline pornographic. The efficiency of this engine works both down low and up high, resulting in a 8.8L/100km economy on the street, a good surplus in my book. It has a good weight distribution of 53/47, but at speed the car makes me unsure if I’m drifting or racing. It sure is lots of fun though, but scary, although it’s nothing a spoiler or lip can’t fix, but that costs money, money I barely would have left after buying this car. It still gets a good lap time of 1:58 around Zolder though, 1:57.33 on semi slicks even. The GT86 sure can learn a lot from the ZS36.

@DonCornaldie : Fun Bus

Price now: 10,895 euros

Drink water, spit it out, drink water and spit it out again, rinse and repeat. That’s the kind of car this is, it’s a mini bus, but it’s fast, like, ridiculously fast. 1:54.67 around Zolder fast, doing 1:53.47 on semi-slicks. Can you imagine overtaking Porsches and Corvettes in THIS? It’s cramped as hell, but it weighs only 985.7 kg. Sadly for that it had to ditch all entertainment though, well, asides from the funny looks you get on the street (and on the track). That, together with a twin turbo 1.9L V8 makes it very, very mean though, but a nightmare to service. Yikes, I don’t think I’ll have any money left from the budget after buying the car and giving it some well-deserved maintenance after 17 years. it’ll probably continue sucking up cash too, the economy of the engine isn’t fantastic, but it still is a small engine in a light car.
Its performance and handling are on point, but I wouldn’t do long drives in it to like, the Nordschleife and maintenance on the engine is a nightmare, I still can’t stop smiling when looking at the body though, despite it all it’s a fun(ny) little car.

@TR8R : FTi Hellcat

Price now: 16,400 euros

Hi, is this the zoo? Yes, I think one of your demons escaped. 428 hp at 1300 kg, damn this car sure goes. Around Zolder in 1:52 ish on semi-slicks, but takes some effort, yet a predictable car. The ride is rough though, even with active suspension it seems capable of splitting wood, just by putting it inside the car while driving on a bumpy road. Luckily tracks generally are in the civilised world, but hopping onto a curb with this car, well, quite literally is hopping. The rear end really is rather on the soft side, making it rather sluggish, but that suits the big muscle car this car is. The V8 is NA and not too lazy, giving a satisfying roar. It sucks up fuel, but it’s efficiency is quite linear, resulting in…not traumatic track fuel use. This is the hammer of this competition: maybe not the most efficient, but effective and fun to swing around. It is over budget though, and quite old to track. So I may struggle to afford this beast, that and there are rumours of engines blowing up due to piston failure at high rpm, yikes, not ideal for track use.

@Madrias : Sinistria Savage SE-6

Price now: 7,312 euros

How big can we make a single cylinder? Apparently nearly one litre big. Christ, 5.7L in V6 format. This is a one of a kind engine with rather sweet torque. Interestingly there’s more to get out of the engine too, as it was made to run on ‘murican fuel. Speaking of getting more out of the car: stock it does Zolder in 2 minutes, but it costs less than half my budget. Spend 3k to whip the car back into shape, and there’s over 5k left! These cars aren’t frequently modified, so there isn’t a set path, but the mods that I found interesting were: 400 for an ecu remap, 100 for alignment, 1000 for flares to fit some wider semi-slicks. Still bringing me 4k below budget, and making the car 4 seconds faster around Zolder at 1:56. This one sure is a bargain, and it’s spacious as a sedan, its reliability is alright too. But is it the most fun for the buck? Sure is a compelling candidate though, as service costs are likely to be low on such a mechanically simple car. Has the meanest V6, and some great value, a car to keep an eye on.

@JohnWaldock : JHW TrackSport RR

Price now: 7,080 euros

789 kg, this means that the occupants could be heavier than the car itself (if you can fit them in with all the fat atleast). Christ this car is light. With just a 1.7L i4 with a reasonably linear economy graph it’s lean on gas too. Dirt cheap too, it’ll need some love after the 19 years, and fibreglass is hard to fix, meaning replacement parts will be needed, but hey, 2.5k to fix it up and 1k aside If something gets banged. With “just” 186 hp it isn’t the fastest around zolder, just under 1:58 on semi slicks, but being a feather with good downforce it is a lot of fun and corners well. The car isn’t engineered very well though: the brakes are horribly oversized, and the downforce causes heavy understeer.
Light, lean on gas and alright to maintain, it is fun, surprisingly good even, but it does have downforce issues and the brakes lock up as soon as you even dare looking at the brake pedal. It doesn’t have a stereo though, so that’s a minus. But dropping it to smaller, better suited brakes drops the car below 780 kg. Compelling just by its raw simplicity, wish it was some years younger rather than cheaper though.

@Nomade0013 : Gamma Surge S2 GTL holysh*tthisnameislong

Price now: 9,800 euro

This car…is giving me flashbacks, like, CSR4 flashbacks Anyhow, an oldschool MR sportscar, like a supercar but just a bit down on power. It has good reliability, good handling, but once again the brakes are off, and now the gearing aswell, hitting the rev limiter in 5th before hitting top speed, and being low in rpm in 6th to get a higher top speed. Anyhow, it does Zolder in 1:57 on semi-slicks, which is pretty good, with 5k to spare. Easily enough to fully fix her up. Not sure where I’d spend the rest of the money on, probably some wider rims and tyres as the arches easily allow for more, that along with a nice alignment and aerodynamics overhaul can make this a handling monster at speed. It has a nice V6 humming at 255 hp, but it sure drinks fuel with a pretty aggressive AF ratio and very curved fuel economy graph. It does not have power steering though, which means hard work in the hairpin(s), but it sure makes the feedback through the wheel great! Just a bit on the heavier side for lacking it, but it gets away with it as MR.
Asides from the fuel economy the Gamma Surge seems to be very much in the middle ground: still pretty cheap, decent lap time, decently low weight, medium size, decent to good handling. It is a good performer, yet I can’t help but feel like it misses some character.

@TheElt : Spaciexex

Price now: 14,980 euros

Why do I keep checking out minivans for tracking? Oh wait, hey, this is pretty neat. An AWD shopping monster? I mean, this is the kind of car Vin Diesel should’ve driven in “The Pacifier”. Jokes aside, this is a serious track beast. Think Lancer Evo or Impreza STI, but in minivan format, lapping Zolder in under 1:55. With a 365 NA V6 and just 1336 kg this is to no surprise, but having such numbers as a minivan is…rather astounding, it even has double wishbones all round! The V6 isn’t exactly running lean, but the VVL and reliability helps limiting the damage. It is quite expensive for its age though, but hey, maybe I could start up a track taxi service with this thing? Any takers?
Can’t really say anything bad about this asides from its age and the cooling looking a bit excessive (maybe turbocharging in the future??). I wasn’t looking for a minivan, but damn, this one got a good dose of hot sauce.

@DoctorNarfy : Shromet Interval 540GTI

Price now: 14,130 euros

Ah yes, what a lovely little sports car, with an incredibly fuel efficient V8. Like, dark magic must be at play here: the car only uses 6.9L/100 km with a 5.4L V8, what. Anyhow, it’s freaking torquey too, producing 275 hp at 5300 rpm, resulting together with its drivetrain layout in a low 3.9 seconds to 100 kph, even with just an open differential. Which is a shame to say the least for a car with these specifications. It’s pretty modern being made at 2002, with a rock solid engine. It’s very easy to point wherever you want it to go too, just replacement body parts will be a challenge as the Interval 540GTI is made out of fibreglass. The fibreglass pushes the weight down to just a smidge over a ton though, 1044 kg. It runs low camber too, being lean on the tyres on the straights, although the outside of the tyres might wear more quickly in corners.
A very compelling offer from Shromet, my congratulations, my choice just got even harder.

@laffinghyena : Reprobro

Price now: 14,720 euros

Bro, it has a V8 bro, with fibreglass and MR layout yo, weighing just a tonne and doing 0-100 kph in 3.5 seconds, bro. Repro? This car deserves to be reproduced itself, well, asides from the horrible safety that is. Despite being a modern car, I’m pretty sure it hardly got through NCAP, if at all, its interior is basic too. The featherweight of this car sure required a few sacrifices to the blood god. But with what a result, it does Zolder in under 1:50 on semi-slicks. Bloody hell, this must be the automotive equivalent of a “glass cannon”, in the good sense. Atleast it has a radio ey. I probably would have to replace the seats at some point, but what a fast, fun car.
It isn’t the prettiest of the class, but it sure is one fast younger one.
