The Japanese Power Pact [FINISHED]

This contest has now finished. Thanks to all who participated. It was a great contest!

Hello everyone!

This is the first competition I am hosting, and it’s all to do with the “Gentlemen’s Agreement” between the car manufacturers of Japan stating that their domestically produced vehicles must not exceed 276hp.

The production year is 2002!

You must name the car’s LUA file in this format: JPP-Username-Car Name (e.g. JPP-Pleb-Cottam Cavara R) and you must include your nationality, and your name in the PM.
I will not reveal the track list until the entries are closed! And the entries must be submitted by the 23rd January, 17:00 GMT!

Excuse the shoddy attempt at art in the following picture… :stuck_out_tongue: (I won’t be updating this picture for the most recent entries, as I will be doing the results very soon!)

What year?

Oops, forgot about that, 2002.

Oh boy I wish we had the right body to make the NSX… It might be worth making a replica for that alone! (Not sire about manufacturing costs tho)

When Pleb talked about the idea on the IRC, the first thing I suggested was to do a NSX replica. That is why, I think, he added its picture to the rules :stuck_out_tongue:

But we haven’t got the body, nor the engine to do that.

Well, there are plenty of other very fine picks to be inspired by! A measly 276hp isn’t all that much… Unless were heading down mt haruna that is, then it’s plenty…

So, based on the OP pics, that both FR and MR are OK?

Yes, both are ok.

Mount Haruna without much aero, that would be fun.

Dragawn held a bit of a shakedown with similar restrictions a few months back, with down force restrictions. Heaps of fun, this will be smilar!

Now decisions decisions, do I make a car in era, or tune up an older car… Should I make it ultra compact, sports coupe, sedan, hatchback…

Blah! If you don’t have more than 1200hp on Mt Haruna, you need to go find your binky.

can you send me the pictures? i can’t see them because the website is blocked

BEHOLD THE LAST PLACE COMPETITOR!

The Suzume Shouri G

Why is it going to be last? Because it’s an automatic sedan, that’s why!

LOL I wish Kristina. Would love to see how the times stack up

Pleb, are we allowed to enter tuned cars from prior eras? For example, if I rocked up in an AE86 with a tuned up 4-AGE?

If you can manage 35 Comfort, without making the car weigh a shitton :frowning:

Yeeeah good point! I’m looking at that and thinking of all the other things I’ll have to do… No turbo, super soft suspension… Hand crafted seats…

Long wheelbase and steel everywhere (adds to safety AND comfort)

i think i’ll have a go at this one.

@strop: Anything goes as long as it is 2002 tech year and it follows the restrictions in the OP!
(And yes, any engine placement is allowed as long as it’s RWD)

I will check entries when I’m back at my PC this afternoon.

Mars Engineering enters the Competition with the ME Beutelteufel.

That’s a jaw dropping sideview.
