wait. why is cats required again?. i managed an engine that passes it without one at 1950 emissions.
and somehow with the total emissions lower than engine emissions ??? O_o

Historical accuracy.
In the US, catalytic converters were required on all gas powered vehicles starting in 1975. Since this is a 1976 scenario, it makes sense.
Did any of you reach 30mpg (US)? I’m trying but… i did it only with insane Turbo MFI engines
Yep, and more MPG.
I have the feeling I may be priced a bit too high this time around, but premium seats are a must. Who cars if your car gets 40mpg if its terribly uncomfortable? I don’t know cause mine doesn’t get 40mpg, but its got nice leather and faux-leather cushioning for five with a door for four of them.
heh. 30mpg+ with NA. not luxurious though. but prestige and comfort dont increase in paralel with the weight and reliability penalty. so econoshitbox it is
I aimed for sportiness in mine. I used an N/A V6, with 150-160 something hp and around the same amount of torque (in ft-lb).
Mine also happened to be mid-engined, and reasonably affordable with decent cost and 24 mpg.
same torque, but lower power with 25mpg… i guess yours are better and i still have some ways to go.
on another note. it’s soooo hard to make an engine with 50+ reliability without MFI or quality slider
We will see if mine gets accepted. It was a very DMA submission, and still gets 20mpg out of something that can go just about anywhere.
I think I’m royally screwing myself with my choices here, but well, I’m going to try and embody the challenge as much as possible!
(lolololol eco-booscht in the 70s, too bad my base is a lardass)
same here. either a economical but shitty ass turbo. or a more drivable but less efficient one.
or maybe i’ll try another big barge.
wait… it’s total cost and not sales price is it? O_O
screw me… derp
like nearly all american manfactures Centauri offered a compact sports cars during the oil crisis years, named the Spats this v6 equipped 5 door enjoyed a odd selection of old and new ideas. With a newly designed chassis and engine for 1976 it none the less relied on the old school ladder frame and cast iron pushrods of it’s fore-bearers. Despite the similarities though this hot hatch featured 4 wheel independent suspension for a sporty and controlled ride, it’s big 125hp 243 cubic inch v6 hustled the car to 60 in 8.5 seconds, and through the quarter mile in 16.6 thanks to a limited slip rear end and a sporty 5 speed stick. Economy was very good compared to the likes of the heavier v8 equipped Monzas, Mustang IIs and Aspens with which it could keep pace. the old school approach paid off big in the sales department as it was able to under cut the competitors by hundreds of dollars
160hp from a 3.98L engine?
that’s pretty 60s ish.

Umm no, I said 125hp which is a little on the highside for the 70’s.
derp. read it wrong.
buttttt 125hp is high?? O_O
is it for the class or the total average?
in the mid 70’s the GM 305, ford 302 and mopar 318 all made about 140hp, so I’m about a liter less with only 15 fewer horsepower.
I am intrested, but can dedicate no time to build a car till after I finish my writing
Is the 15 cars a hard limit?
Oh, crap!
Uh… I have 18 entries!
…That’s a lot.
So, we’re closed! If I must, I may… “Boot out” a person.
It looks as if I might be under-powered and over-priced? My company channeled their inner-Honda with the Aelia Audens. So I’m not getting even a 100hp. Like I said though, its got really good seats! Plus, I think it looks pretty good:
WAIT WUT…
i got mine ready, just havent sent it yet
