Ever considered that the F-150 is by far the newest Truck tested and that it was the only one that launched AFTER the small overlap test was introduced? Both the Toyota and Ram have been designed over eight years ago and even the GM Trucks have been on the market for a few years now.
The results of this comparison are not at all unexpected, its called technological advancement. Even some of the smaller current cars are just as safe if not safer than the safest cars of 15 years ago. Come the next redesign of the other trucks the Ford will fall behind again. It has nothing to do with the materials used.
