Honest in communism? What a propaganda!
how are the points calculated? is there some type of this drivability equals this or that? or is it like the guy with most drivability gets 7, the next 6 and so on?
I am going to do a weighed score. Let’s say the lowest score is a 30 for drivability and 70 the highest, then the lowest will receive 0 points and the 70 will get 7 points. If you have 45 drivability you will get 2.625 points. Hope this clears things up
Except for design there it will be if it looks like it or not

REPORT TO THE MINISTRY OF AUTOMOTIVE AND MACHINE BUILDING OF THE UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLICS
Subject: Proposal for the Mass Production of the MISHKA TARANTASS People’s Automobile
Prepared by: State Automobile Design MISHKA Avto
Date: Moscow, 1978
I. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with the directives of the XXIV Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and in line with the great goals of the Five-Year Plan to provide improved living standards for the Soviet people, Mishka Avto proudly submits for ministerial evaluation the prototype of the Tarantass.
This automobile has been designed with the guiding principle of socialist utility: to create a reliable, affordable, and practical means of transportation for the working masses while demonstrating the superiority of socialist engineering over capitalist extravagance.
II. OBJECTIVES
- Mass Affordability – The retail price will be accessible to workers, collective farm members, and engineers alike.
- Simplicity of Construction – Components are standardized for quick assembly in existing plants, reducing costs and dependency on imported materials.
- Durability – Built for the harsh conditions of Soviet roads, including unpaved surfaces common in rural oblasts.
- Economy – Fuel consumption remains minimal, ensuring efficiency for both personal and state use.
- Collective Utility – The vehicle can be easily adapted for small deliveries, or kolkhoz needs.
III. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Engine: 1.3L, 4-cylinder, 41 horsepower.
- Fuel Consumption: 10.2 liters per 100 km.
- Seating Capacity: 6 comrades (including driver).
- Cargo Volume: 2110 liters (rear compartment optimized for daily shopping or agricultural goods).
- Top Speed: 111 km/h (sufficient for city and rural transport, without wasteful excess).
IV. PRODUCTION PLAN
- Initial Capacity: 75,000 units per year at the Mishka Automobile Plant.
- Scaling: Capacity to rise to 200,000 units annually within three years, aligned with Five-Year Plan targets.
- Export Potential: Designed to meet fraternal socialist countries’ needs (Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Poland), strengthening economic integration within COMECON.
V. COST STRUCTURE
- Projected Retail Price: 10,200 rubles – attainable for the average worker family after planned wage improvements.
- Maintenance Costs: Reduced through standardized parts and compatibility with existing toolkits.
- State Subsidy: Minimal, as production relies on domestically sourced steel, rubber, and glass.
VI. SOCIAL AND IDEOLOGICAL IMPACT
The Tarantass is not merely a machine but a tool of socialist progress:
- It brings modern mobility to collective farmers and industrial workers.
- It demonstrates the ability of socialist science to provide for the people without the wasteful ornamentation of capitalist “luxury” vehicles.
- It will strengthen the cultural and economic unity of the Union by enabling families to travel, visit relatives, and participate more actively in socialist construction.
VII. CONCLUSION
Comrades of the Ministry, the Tarantass represents a new chapter in the history of Soviet automotive design. It is economical, durable, and above all, designed with the needs of the Soviet people in mind.
We respectfully request approval for mass production so that the Tarantass may take its rightful place on the roads of our Motherland, serving as both a practical vehicle and a symbol of socialist achievement.
Glory to the Workers! Glory to Soviet Engineering!
Signed,
Chief Engineer of Mishka Avto
Comrade A. V. Reznov
