Thecarlover's cars - New models inside!

Thanks guys! I originally had rectangular headlights on it, but popups are definitely the sportier approach for the early 90s. I’ve still got to come up with a decent late 90s model.

@Spitfire599: I didn’t think about that until now, I was thinking it had a more Japanese vibe to it.

Introducing the 1955 Solo Brute! Available as a quarter ton truck, a utility wagon, and a panel van. All versions come standard with 4x4 to tackle the rugged rural Canadian roads and terrain.

With the release of Fallout 4 today, I’ve been inspired to make a car that wouldn’t be too out of place in the pre-war society (albeit not nuclear powered). Here’s the 1953 Solo Jetstream, an aerodynamic premium sport sedan with a balanced styling of streamlined and jet age designs.

So I think I made the car of the year for 1971…? Just the market scores for now, I’ll post car tomorrow. Maybe even tweak a few things to make it even more competitive.

Introducing the best-in-class 1971 Diamond Emerald! 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, a top speed of 248 km/h, and a luxurious driver-oriented interior, all for the surprisingly attainable price of $30,900!

A few adjustments also improved its market stats:

You’ll find it easy to outstrip the market when there are few competitors and the market hasn’t… Actually developed yet. Hypercar is very much a modern thing so while your car is very desirable to somebody looking for uncompromising performance of that sort, the market is vanishingly small. This said, you’ve essentially built a Miura-ish car, which had a similar god-like status and sold in small volumes.

(Also 30400 in 70s terms is kind of pricey. Think more than six times the price of the average US muscle car.)

I like that 50’s car a lot. stylish and not overly done like jetson mobile

I’ve found there’s something odd with the pricing for the past, which was mentioned in the dev update about tycoon. It’s all in modern dollar values, but the technology from 40-50 years ago is very cheap to us, so cars done in the past are cheap because of the technology, not for adjusted pricing, so unless they change that it’s impossible to build something comparatively priced with real models of the time. I’ve made luxury cars in the 1950s costing more than $40,000 that were quite competitive in their segments, when one of the most expensive cars of the time, the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham, cost just over $13,000.

It is true that there aren’t many competitors in the segment, so any improvement over what’s there leads to this kind of market appeal in some segments… and somehow being very popular in a few segments. Still seems weird considering the performance isn’t too ridiculous (similar to a DeTomaso Pantera or Plymouth Hemi Cuda). I just threw the big cast iron engine I made for a land barge into it and hoped for the best. It definitely wouldn’t be a very common car regardless of the competitors and dollar values in the gameé

Thanks!

Is that $40000 dollar value the price of the car before or after you adjust for inflation?
$13000 in the 50s is a hell of a lot of money today, and I can’t even begin to imagine what $40000 would be.

automation has no inflation calcs yet if i remember correctly from the dev update they said it in, so it’s all modern, so that 40K is 40K in today’s money regardless what year it is in game

That’s exactly it, everything is calculated to today. A luxury AM radio from the 50s would be very cheap to produce compared to a luxury infotainment system from the present, so things like that are the only reason old cars end up cheaper. Without the price adjustments with inflation, there’s no way to compare to real cars or with in-game cars of later decades.

The 1958 Diamond Opal Gold (on page 2) is the car I’m referring to, and here are its market stats:

I was aiming for the luxury premium market, but the engine is a bit overpowered, though smaller than a lot of V8s of the time, so it’s quite the hypercar as well…

1983 Solo Jetstream PM

Much like the original 1953 model, this one is also ahead of its time, with a streamlined design closer to concept cars of the time. The massive doors slide for easy access in tight parking spaces, and add to the futuristic design.

I like your cars, and I appreciate the effort you’re putting in. I think you should try to make a V12 sports car, because I’m curious as to how you would style it.

I don’t have much inspiration in the McLaren body beyond what I’ve already done, but I would definitely do something special with the Lamborghini body I’m making right now.

Want power? Want speed? Want extreme looks? Then look no further than the 2016 Solo Typhoon! With simple and aggressive styling, nobody will mistake this for grandma’s station wagon.
