Themed Car Challenge (Season 1 , Round 4 - FINALE) [VOTE]

***Gentlemen, time to build some cars!***

Welcome to the third round of the TCC… this time more clarity in rules, less confusion and more fun!

In the third round you will have to build a…

1968 Sports Coupe for the AMERICAN MARKET

The world is in a struggle. The United States and Vietnam are on war, civil unrest in France, the murder of Martin Luther King and many other stuff. The car industry though decided that the show must go on and work on nice and sleek sporty coupes like the Datsun Z-Series, Corvette Stingray, Dodge Charger any many others.
You try to enter the market aswell with a sport sedan and now being in america… you feel way less limited by fuel costs.

How to play?

Simple! Read the Guidelines at the bottom, go to this Google Docs Spreadsheet - build your car, fill in your data and send it to me. If any stat has a minimum Value or limits in the top bar, please follow them!

Introduction

The goal in the Themed Car Challenges is to build an Car that is reasonable for the specific theme it is entered into.
This challenge is not about making as much power as possible or other crazy-ass Cars. The winner will be chosen by the
judges, and that is you! You decide which Car you would choose, if YOU were the CUSTOMER. Be realistic about your choices!

Submission Guidelines

[ul]]The latest public release version is used for the challenges./:m]
]One submission per user per theme. The PMed Car is your final and only theme entry./:m]
]If a patch is released during a challenge, the entry has to be (re-)submitted in the latest patch version./:m]
]After filling the spreadsheet with your Car’s data, submit your entry via PM to Pyrlix, the TEC game-master. /:m]
]You must submit the Car by the last day of building time, otherwise it counts as not submitted and is disqualified./:m]
]Scoring (Season 1): 1st place 5 points, 2nd place 4 points, 3rd place 3, 4th place 2 point/:m]
]If your Car stats in the sheet don’t correspond to the ones in the submitted Car file, this counts as cheating./:m]
]Don’t allocate 2 slots at one time. Only 1 slot at once. Finish your work before you start the next one! /:m][/ul]

Voting Guidelines

Remember that you are the customer, and you want to get the best out of a car for your money.
Vote accordingly! Some examples for what kind of questions you should be asking yourselves:

a) Is all that power actually accessible, usable and not far too dangerous?
b) Will the Comfort break your back?
c) Does it eat your wallet?

Do the voting by putting your name in the “Vote” line below each scenario. You have three votes per theme:

 1. “3MyForumID” is worth three points towards the placement.
 2. “2MyForumID” is worth two points towards the placement.
 3. “1MyForumID” is worth one point towards the placement.

If there is one or several names in that cell already, edit the cell and add your name: “2NameX, 1NameY, 2MyForumID”
with the score you want to give in front of your forum ID.
You are not allowed to vote for your own Car!

Season Format

The runtime for every challenge is one week and every season will have 4 events, i.e. a season is 4 weeks long.
There may be minor breaks in between due to holidays or unavailability of the game-master.
The competition weeks are structured the following way:

Car Submissions: Saturday, Sunday, Monday
Car Voting: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Challenge Wrap-Up and Announcement: Friday

Just a small little thing, shouldn’t the fuel be reguar 91?

It’s the 60’s I think the regular is leaded.

Ahh, ok my mistake, I usually make cars from the 90’s on, so I’m only used to unleaded.

you guys either go the era-correct route using push rods, of go full blown crazy with 4valves DOHC didnt you?

like 4 valves DOHC in '68? 3 valves were somewhat advaced in the early 70s

I’m doing a 240Z/2000GT mashup, so i’ve gone for DOHC. Also… pop up headlights. Yay!

BTW I really want a fastback version of this body.

i’ve tried plenty of stuff… none seem to be working for me I6,V6, V8, V12. it’s either too slow, to expensive, stats too low, too undrivable… and so on.

im guessing no points at all for me this season

I struggled a lot to make this car semi fuel efficient. I started at 27.3 L/100 km and after many hours I got it down to 19.9 L/100 km. Is it just because it’s a big engine in the 60’s or am I doing something wrong? It also looks like I’m in the same boat as koolkei, trying to get a single point.

The first few entries set the bar high. If you tried to put all of your car’s stats in the spreadsheet, then you’ll realize that your crappy car is only half the price of the others. i think it’s alright to abuse some sliders.

Well honestly that’s about right for the era, a 69 charger 440 (7.2liter) only got about 10-15 mpg average.

My 6.0L gets 8.2 mpg… oops. But it’s got powahhh!

I’ll let the image speak for itself. 1968 predates our history by one year, so I went with it.
